If possible, I'd like a script that plays a string on entry to a d-map (the same way the d-map intro option does).

Alternatively, an alteration to Hoff's Message script which makes the string only play once per visit to the dmap.

Or, lastly, one which draws the box (starting from tile 20080 in classic) behind the d-map intro as it would behind a normal string.
 

If it's not clear, I want to do a d-map intro with a box background/outline.

 

EDIT: This includes the ability to enter the d-map by entries, but have only one of them (the first you see) appear per visit to the dmap. Also, I'm favouring the first two approaches I described, because I have a couple dungeons that take up multiple dmaps.

If I understand you correctly, you should be able to make the dungeon entrance a Door Repair room with a charge of 0.

Then you can make it in the string editor.

Shoshon, I believe your suggestion would work once per game, but not once per dmap entry.

Also I believe he wanted it to be once per dmap entry regardless of which screen you're on.

Nah, what Shoshon said works I believe. A Door Repair room that charges 0 rupees and displays a string. And it works once per room, not once per game. Unless you want intro strings to display multiple times, then you can just have a regular string play i think.

You're assuming a DMap only has one entrance

 

Unless I'm mistaken this is a request for a script so you see "Hyrule Field" once no matter where you enter it from, but don't see that string again until you leave the DMap and return.

 

So it would have to work on any screen on that DMap, you couldn't just set it up via room settings.

Cukeman's exolained what I want better than I did. Thanks.

The reason I can't use a regular string is because it will play again (Hoff's message string also has that issue) when you re-enter the room. I don't want it only to play the first time you enter the room. However, it should play the first time you enter the dmap.

If possible, I'd also like to be able to do this with multiple screens, where only one of them plays per visit, now that I think about it.
