which build is the best to use from www.shardstorm.com to play a quest called the 12 palaces. Keep in mind that I have vista on my laptop.

If it uses 2.10, use 2.10. If it uses a beta, use the beta it was made in.

some people don't have that luxury. If you can find it, try 2.10.2, but last I heard, it disappeared. If not, try the latest beta and hope for the best.

i tried and it did not work on vista. I tried run as an adminstrator and still no luck. I wish someone could make a version of zelda classic that works perfectly on vista and would play the quest called the 12 palaces.

As far as I know , because I've used it, 2.10.2 works perfectly on Vista. Are you running z-launch as administrator or just zquest-w and zelda-w (I'm pretty positive these are the file names). What exactly are you doing and what exactly are is going wrong?

He might want to try it in a windowed version.I've heard things go screwy when you do 2.10 in full screen.

the screen flickers for like 8 seconds then i get a message saying the application closed because it tried to excute in an usual manner (this is paraphrased but basically the message that is given)

Try this:

Download the program I made here and unzip it in to your Zelda Classic folder.

Right click on ZeldaGuard.exe, choose properties, and click on the Compatability tab. Tick off "Disable Desktop Composition", and click okay. Now, run it. The screen will flicker for a bit, and then the glass window theme will be disabled.

Now, try running Zelda-W. It should work just fine!

Assuming all that works okay, then when you're done playing, you can right click on the ZeldaGuard icon (looks like a triforce) and quit, and everything should go back to normal.

The reason this works is because Zelda Classic cannot run while Aero (the glassy look in Vista and Windows 7) is running. So, windows tries to disable it, but Zelda Classic crashes too quickly.

i think i have to play zelda classic in 192 does this work with 192 because i can not figure it out

What's wrong with whatever version you have now?

There is just a glitch in the 12 palaces that will not let me go south in the temple of 50 trials because there is a fairy in that room. I must find a way to get zelda classic 2.10 to work on my vista infected laptop.
