However, I don't know how to open the locked cave in the mountain surrounded by water and there is another place not too far from level 1 (need to use an item you get in level 8 to open) which I can't enter either.  I also can't figure out the area near level 4 where I am "eligible" (lord of magic) to enter the trial (or whatever it is called).   I also wrote down a clue which it starts with smash fire of fate.  

 

Can someone offer me a hint as what I should do next?  

Actually, that locked cave surrounded by water is post-game content.

So is the area near level 4. 

The quest doesn't really advertise these facts very well.

 

To enter Nayru level 8 you will have to be able to reach the area around Din level 8.

To do that you must hit a switch in the Labyrrna Sea, under water to the west of Nayru level 7.

It's also a bit south of Nayru level 8.

 

This switch requires the Ball and Chain to access.

Once you open the way for Din, you have to explore a bit to find the target you need.

In a ruin north of Din level 8 is a cave that leads to a lake.

There's an Ether switch there that opens Nayru level 8.

Sorry to necropost but the recent update seems to have broken a lock in Din level 2.  I saw in a video that you can use a key to unlock the pipe, but it doesn't work when I try it.  I'm playing on 2.55.

 

Edit:  The pipe here will not unlock.

Sorry to necropost but the recent update seems to have broken a lock in Din level 2.  I saw in a video that you can use a key to unlock the pipe, but it doesn't work when I try it.  I'm playing on 2.55.

Sorry for the late reply. After a month of inactivity, I no longer see new posts.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

Looks like this was caused by some of the new quest rules for 2.55

Specifically the ones regarding "Custom Combos Work on Layers 1 and 2".

I don't want to change the whole quest over to the new version just to fix a single bug.

The quest isn't passworded, so you can change the rule yourself and see if that works.

Alternatively, this works fine on 2.53

After checking with the developers, it looks like this bug should be fixed in a version more recent than 8-9-22

If you have a more recent version than that and this is still happening, please report it as a ZC bug.

I also discovered a bug in 2.55 where the game would hang if you enter the mini boss room in din level 8.  Most likely a script issue with 2.55.

That's interesting.

The only unique script there is the boss.

It doesn't do anything fancy.

At least, nothing that several other bosses up to that point haven't already done.

I don't even know how to diagnose the problem.

Just a notice to anyone playing this quest, I just uploaded a new version which changes how some of the quest's systems work.

You'll probably want to hold off on updating your file until you finish the quest as a result.

 

The major improvement is that I finally fixed my sideview water.

This gives me a boost of confidence when it comes to my future projects.

 

Other than that, MeleeWizard is currently in the middle of an LP of the quest.

If you've never played this quest before, you should check it out to get an idea of what's in store for you!

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't see this since the site doesn't keep me updated after a certain amount of time with no replies,

When you complete the game as Nayru, it checks for two items to determine if it should activate the secret which opens her trial dungeon.

The first of these is the Goddess' Bow. This is obtained by defeating a boss who becomes available after delivering all 10 Lost Letters.

The screenshots show that you've done that but not if you have faced that boss.

To access it, you must speak to the postman in the house on the left side of Lynna City just above the river.

This opens a cave just north of the shop in Lynna City.

 

The second item is the level 2 magic ring which you get for rescuing all 10 lost fairies and talking to the fairy queen on Crescent Isle.

The subscreen shows that you have done this.

Once you have obtained both of these items, simply visit the room where you fought Veran in the Black Tower.

You won't have to fight the boss again and after the cutscene, you should have access to Nayru's trial dungeon.

I'm replaying this and ran into a problem with the Farore mini games. Basically, despite having all 8x mirror shards, once I enter the final room of the Gerudo Ruins mini game, a prompt tells me "I don't have enough mirror shards."

Of course, I'm locked out of the #9 and #10 mini games because #8 won't complete for some reason.

Now, it looks like Din's side of the quest is soft locked after finishing the black tower. I can keep going back and replaying, again and again, the post-boss event in the boss room of the black tower. The fog envelopes the mirror world, and the hero appears in the bed inside the house immediately adjacent to the black tower, but Din's post-game trial dungeon doesn't unlock.

Nayru's side of the quest is fine. I completed all the Nayru sidequests and the trial dungeon without issue.

I am playing the latest version of the quest on ZC 2.55 a112.

These two bugs have most likely overlapping causes.

Finishing Farore mini-games #9 and #10 are requirements for unlocking the Din post-game trial dungeon.

Given the fact that the quest hasn't been updated since November and the previous user was able to complete Din's trial, there's probably another cause to this error.

 

You said that you have all 8 Mirror Shards, but you may be thinking of the wrong item.

While Din does get that many, Farore only gets 4. These are all found inside the mini-dungeon in the 8th event.

When you solve a puzzle, a small patch of ground in some rooms will change to look like something is buried under the surface.

You can then use the Mole Mitts to dig up a Mirror Shard in that spot.

Once you have all 4, just go to the exit of the dungeon.

 

After that, you should be able to complete the other two mini-games as Farore.

Then just visit the Black Tower boss room as Din to unlock her trial.

If this doesn't solve the problem, then there may be a version issue involved which I'm not sure how to resolve.

Yep, that was the solution. I really can't believe I overlooked something so simple. I can't remember if there was an in-game hint message inside the #8 Farore mini game, but if there was, I didn't notice at all

After that, you should be able to complete the other two mini-games as Farore.
Then just visit the Black Tower boss room as Din to unlock her trial.


This worked and I was finally able to enter the fire and ice trial dungeon.

You're not the first to do so. The only real clue is the presence of the required spot where you dig up the Orb of Wisdom.

I can always add a hint tile if this becomes a common issue.

So... I've been doing decently well progressing through this. But hit a bug at maybe the halfway part of the ice dungeon on Din's side. There is a chest that gets defrosted after you kill all the blue monsters in the room, and it won't let me open it, but as near as I can tell this is the next step. Is there... any way to help with that?

I don't remember if I've fixed this yet.

I got about halfway through testing the 2.55 build of the quest when I got sidetracked.

For reference, which version of the quest are you playing?

Secondly, can you provide me with a screenshot of the room?

I think that I know which one it is and may have already fixed this.
