[Nightmare]

As everyone knows, I was working in secret on a quest called Zelda:  Downfall.  It started in the Unofficial 6th Quest Contest, then moved as a developing quest in 2.55.  However, with the infinite challenges of balancing it (generally trending WAY too hard) and changing of Zelda Classic, I have temporarily cancelled it and don't know what to really do with the spiritual 5th Quest Failure Quest/test quest/sequel to Zelda NES Remastered.

 

I could:

1.  Retool it with a tileset like Cambria and try again.

2.  Revive the project forum here and try to release a public beta, see what people think (expect negativity to the max though)

3.  Cancel it altogether considering a lot of things in Zelda Classic/ZC are changing.

 

What do you guys think?

Bit of an oxymoron here. It's not a secret project if everyone knows about it, also I can't imagine many here did.

 

Anyways, my take on it is that retooling the quest in Cambria would be a lateral step at best. Your approach tends to be very gameplay over graphics and Cambria definitely shines best in heavily detailed screens. I think option 2 can't hurt. If people don't like it, so what? Of course that depends on you, is this something you want to keep working on? That should always be your first priority.. Don't feel obligated to please others, that includes me. And of course here's also option 4: leave it where it is and wait to see how things turn out. Similar to the third but less of a pessimistic spin. For all we know basic Zelda 1 quests may be seeing a renaissance.

Doing 2 and asking some honest reviewers like you Moosh and Yuan could be a good holdover until a later decision is made, kinda a mix of a "2" and "4", not sure though. I just really don't want to put out an unnecessary bad product.

 

Edit:  Made a new project forum (for some obvious reasons) and put the stalled beta up, if anyone wants to take a look at it.  Enjoy people.
