James Quest: Sidestory starts off at a difficulty level about the 2nd Quest's end. So, it's recommended that players have strong Zelda fundamentals coming in and are not thrown when things change.
Also, if you're coming off of cartridge directly, I suggest a run of HeroOfFire's Randomizer Modern. This will get you up to date with modern ZC tech. Veterans won't have to worry.
Zelda NES Remastered or Demo play is not required. There are a couple of small backstory references to James Quest: Remastered, but no gameplay is required.
Hope this gets everybody into this smoothly and puts my expectations forward for both devs and gamers.
