Somnus started as an attempt at a new style around a week ago and since then it grew into a project I've been wanting to do for a while now. If you haven't read the project page, Somnus is about a young boy named Aster who seems to have a bad habit of sleeping quite a lot much to the annoyance of his closest friend Aura. Together, with the help of a mysterious character guiding Aster, they will be thrown into what will become a legend as they fight to prevent a prophecy of misfortune for all. All of the story has been planned and now I plan how to implement it into the flow of the quest.

I'm a bit undecided on the scale of this quest, but I'm shooting for something average, so around 6 to 9 dungeons. I don't intend on working on this as fast as I can but I do intend on at least working on it daily even if progress is very little. I have one area down along with several interiors and one cave. I'll be mostly showing off a bit more progress on Discord but all organized and collected updates will go here. More information on the quest in general will be revealed later, one update at a time.

Some screens (featuring completely original assets) from the project page:

Some indoor stuff:

I hope you look forward to this project.

You are a great screen designer, and quest designer. I'm looking forward to anything with your name on it. :) I'd say, have fun with it, and don't try to be too ambitious, but you already know all that :P

Your custom tiles are nice. Those aside I think it's fair to say that you've developed quite a distincitive style by now, which is cool.

Russ's thought process after reading the post:
"What do you mean completely original assets, it's in the Gameboy se- oh. OH I see."

Anyways, it's looking good like most of your stuff. There's just one thing I'd point out.

I feel like the average scale of quests has been smaller than 6-9 dungeons for quite a while, save for a few big exceptions. But perhaps I'm just not paying attention. Regardless, it sounds like a good plan. Just don't get burned out and pull a Sanctuary Tree on us. :P

One quick question, since I've noticed Aster and Gale walking around in your signature. Is there any story link to Rite of the Storm? Or are the characters just using a similar graphical style?

Thanks everyone!

I decided on 6 main dungeons, not counting the final. Should be a reasonable goal and I don't intend on making the same mistakes I did regarding Sanctuary Tree.

Without going into much detail, it definitely takes place in the same universe (like all my future non-Zelda quests/projects) but I'm not sure if there will be any direct link yet. But at most, maybe expect one.
