my tileset is a reorganization of PTUX with a bunch of stuff from the purezc community. it's a compilation tileset rather than an original work, so nearly all the stuff you see in here comes from someone else.

here's the first part of the readme file:

Tileset Title: Pure Remembrance
ZC Version: ZC v192b183

A compilation tileset based on PTUX.

Features:

- Fully compatible with DoR palettes. Rip anything from/for DoR straight into this set.
- Reorganized tileset structure lets you add and change tiles easily.
- Packaged with nearly all the original PTUX tiles plus lots of extras from other tilesets.

at this stage, the tileset is ready to use, but i bet there's a ton of mistakes. so...i need people to open it up, play around with it, and look for these mistakes. here's a specific list of things to watch out for:

- do the door sets work properly?
- do combo types and solidity check out?
- do the cycled combos work?
- are there any tiles or palettes that need to be modified?
- do all the enemies work? are they the right colors?
- are there any mistakes with Link's equipment and actions?
- is it too bulky? does it feel like PTUX?
- did i leave anyone out of the credits?
- what's missing? what has to be changed, removed, or added?
- does it work on newer versions of zc?
- does the tileset leave a good impression, or does it suck?

any opinions would be great. happy 4th of july!

:O

Look at palette 77!

You should really rename the palettes, I mean I love being honored in this tileset and all but it's not really a good description. icon_razz.gif

I know you just ripped in from Evile's stuff cause I've been in his quest files for awhile, and I remember talking to him about that palette name. And you really should take me out of the credits, cause that's not my palette. That's Evile's palette he made for me, cause I'm awesome.

Looks awesome, but seriously man, learn how to use Layers in your screenshots. All that pink is getting on my nerves. @_@

Are you submitting this to the Database? If so, I'd say fix those screenshots first.

Also, if the Pink is the default Transparent color for Csets 2, 3 and 4, how will you handle Cave combos? Either the caves and houses will be pink, or Link won't show up when walking down into them. icon_confused.gif

When you submit this.
Use layers or get some screenshot makers.
It makes the tileset look like crap.

Pure Remembrance? I would've gone for Dance of Extremenessance D:

But you have captivated my interest, good sir. I love PTUX, but I love an organized one better.

@ plissken:

ok, i'll rename the palette. i stuck to the original names for the most part. i didn't know Evile's set had such a rich history. ^_^

@ schwa:

the pink color is used to guide the questmaker. when you're done designing your quest, you can easily change the pink color into black (all it takes is a few seconds for each palette). i found that using pink is less confusing than using black (can't tell what's transparent and what's really black).

@ antonj3000:

i can use more layers, but then i'll need to use more maps. i didn't think it was worth it, since this map is only used to display palette colors.

@ moonwhisper:

yeah but then i won't have "Pure" in the title. =P

So far my only complaint would have to be the selection of items... which is easy for me to fix, since I'm always editing items in tilesets. Other than that, lovin' it.

If you look at his map in the lower left corner, almost every screen is already filled. I don't see why he can't make a second map though; it wouldn't increase the file size too much.

So what? If it throws n00bies off, I don't care... this tileset is win!
I love what you've got here... heck, it even got me started on a little quest!
Thanks for this!
Truly one of the best tilesets out there.

@ moonwhisper:

i thought about including some other items, but as a safe bet, i just stuck with PTUX's defaults. if you have some item suggestions, you can send them over to me, and i can always stick them into the extra_tiles.zip file, which is already brimming with stuff i cut out of the .qst file.

@ antonj3000:

yeah, i know map 1 is butt-ugly, but i'm afraid i won't change it. it's not about file size either (@ joe dirt). if you can look at any screen on map 1 and say to yourself, "hey, those are the colors i want to use in my quest!," then it's doing its job.

barring comments about map 1, did anyone find mistakes?

@ migokalle:

just remember this one word: beta. ^_^

----------

i uploaded a newer version today (july 5th). it includes a changelog file to keep track of the mistakes i've fixed.

I'm wondering how my OoT stuff didn't find its way in here. Ah, well, no matter. It is, indeed, an epic set. You've cleaned up the Pure Set alright.

I'm going to download this. This could be the Pure tileset comeback I've been waiting for for so long.

Holy ****! This is spectacular! You took PTUX, and made it into something magnificent! The palettes are wonderful! The range of tiles is amazing! The organization leaves a little to be desired, but is so much better than PTUX! My only suggestion would be to import more of the small trees from DoR. I never liked all the seed trees taken from the oracle games, and the DoR version are much better. Well, DoR cliffs would also be nice, but not as important as the trees.

Edit: Using layers on the example screen would also be nice, as would be changing the transparent color to black.
