The RG351 is a semi-popular retro handheld system that is runs open source Linux. 1.5Ghz Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM. It seems like it would be the most perfect portable to enjoy ZeldaClassic on the go. (other then the Steam Deck)

Is there anyone out there would be interested in trying a simple port of ZC to  the RG351?

Not possible: Must be an 80686 core.

There's a few handheld PCs that are out/coming out that can run Zelda Classic. I ran it on my gpd win 1 before.

How did Connor Clark handle his web, Mac, and x86_64 ports?

I would ignore Timelord, if I were you. He has no idea what's going on anymore.

As for this, I feel like only 1GB RAM would be the main issue. Also the fact that we don't have ANY linux builds working right now, only windows and mac. Linux builds are planned, just, takes work to get these things working.

I actually run Zelda Classic on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, but purrhaps that only works because I have Windowz 10 installed. :)

If you're looking to play a quest released in 2.10 or older, you could always snag the DOS ports of Zelda Classic and see how they handle in DOSBox.

I've tried 1.90 quests on my Miyoo Mini V2, and it handles about as well as I remember it running on a 386 or a lower-end 486. Not the best experience, but some quests are playable. From what I've seen the RG351's a good bit more powerful, so you might have a decent experience with it. Certainly worth a shot, anyway!

e: oh, I'm half-asleep and didn't realize this was in the development forum. sorry!
(still, it may scratch your itch for some portable ZC action in the meantime?)
