The Goku and Jiren fight in the last two episodes of Dragon Ball Super just made this arc worth it.

Lately I watched a bit of the monogatari series again. It obviously has a lot of questionable content, but I love how every action and character is still reasonable. I mean it certainly isn't exactly normal, but I am a bit annoyed how many new series throw flat charakters at you that act completely unreasonable with silly background-storys.

Also started Serial Experiment Lain. It didn't age well but I love this kind of stories. I tried something else first that sounded interesting, but it aged too badly, I think it was creating an atmosphere based on shock-moments (suicides) that are not enough to shock people these days anymore.

I also rememberd the garden of sinners and wonder if some of you know if the play with words were actually good in japanese. Found it quite annoying. Not to mention that the culprit was a huge let down.

Watched Jin Ro today. Over ten years since the last time. One of these real awesome "adult" animes. Made me remember how some people were saying that Psycho-Pass shows that anime can be real deep and similar stuff. Still can't understand how anyone can think that, Psycho-Pass certainly is based on a great idea, but I rather was shocked how they failed to use it.

I have decided to bump this thread after almost FIVE YEARS.  Because I mean, there's still a few weebs lurking around here still I'd imagine?  Anywho, not currently watching anything from this season but I don't mind discussing a few my favorites from well, we'll just open it up from 2020 - present...  I think that should be good.  Out of some older stuff I got around to watching Armored Trooper VOTOMS and one Yu Yu Hakusho (never watched Chapter Black onward for whatever reason), I'm a big fan of both of those with Yu Yu Hakusho maybe being my favorite battle shonen outside of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?  As far as newer stuff, I liked BASTARD!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy (if you check this out read the manga too / actually this might be my favorite battle shonen series if it can be called that, just gotta spread that Dark Schneider love you know), Call of the Night (also read the manga), Getter Robo Arc (my favorite two cheeseburger budget manga adaptation / read the Getter Robo series), Higurashi When They Cry Gou/Sotsu (it has quite a mixed response but I dunno I liked it well enough) Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury and SSSS.Dynazenon.  There's more I liked out there but those are probably the more notable ones for me.

Now to expand this a bit further I also keep up with a lot of manga, of which big fan of as already mentioned above BASTARD!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy, Call of the Night and Getter Robo.  But also a few other favorites that come to mind that I read recently would be Dorohedoro, Dai Dark and Watamote (well I've been reading this for almost a decade, the anime adapts the worst part of the manga imo as it does get a lot better overtime),  The Black Lagoon manga is an ongoing favorite too, especially since the anime I still consider like one of my favorites.  Outside of those, I'd also highly recommend Shin Mazinger Zero and Shin Mazinger Zero vs. Ankoku Daishogun as the Shin Mazinger Zero duology might be my favorite super robot story ever?  Anywho that's about it.

Oh and because I'm required to mention it by law, the OP for BASTARD!! is an absolute banger~

The darker side of the Kabuto family in the Shin Mazinger anime is fairly consistent with the original Mazinger manga by Go Nagai from 1972.  Shin Mazinger Zero and Shin Mazinger Zero vs. Ankoku Daishougun is a manga duology that's an entirely different beast than the anime.  They're both fully translated on MangaDex if you want to read them.  Just be warned, when I say an entirely different beast I do mean that.

Not really watching any anime series right now. I had started watching some on various streaming services these last few years; however, I have had more than one instance of these services removing the series before I can finish watching them. This is mainly due to my own viewing habits, though.

Among those that have been 'cut short' for me were Lupin III Part 2 and Outlaw Star. The latter I was enjoying a fair bit, and the former I was really enjoying (Old-Skool can attest to how utterly angry I was about Lupin III's removal). Pop Team Epic was the most recent 'casualty' of this, although I'm a little less irked about that one; that was one I only really watched when I was in the mood for really daft comedy that not even Monty Python could reach. :P

One that I did manage to see on a streaming service to the end within the last few years was Ghost Stories. Given its basic premise of 'school kids vs. ghosts', I wouldn't normally have been interested in watching it; I was more interested in the insane English dub that turned it into something akin to South Park! XD

In regards to anime films, I know I've watched My Neighbours The Yamadas at some point within the last few years, which was amusing. Can't say I've gone out of my way to see any others, though.

Manga-wise, the main ones I've been reading are the tie-in manga series for Zelda: Twilight Princess and the Super Mario Manga Mania book. In all honesty, whenever I look at various manga series in bookshops, I'm rather overwhelmed by how long some of these series can last! I've started a few over the last decade or so, but don't feel up to commiting myself to 20-volume-long (and beyond!) stories, in terms of time, money and bookshelf space! So far, the most amount of volumes I have for a long-running manga series is the Pokemon Adventures manga, of which I have all the volumes up to Pokemon Emerald, and even then I'm not sure if I want to continue with it. More power to those you who can go through some of the lengthier series, but I don't think they're really for me (and as I type this, I realise that I have a box full of Discworld books. I guess my reading commitments just lie elsewhere!).

I recently started the anime Hajime no Ippo, a boxing-themed manga. I wanted to test and frankly it's fun to watch with a lot of humor. But surprisingly, it makes me want to start boxing ^^'
