Ok, so I am working on a new quest, or I was until I accidentilly overwrote the quest file, then deleted it. However, there are several .qt files. Can I recover my quest using those? What are they even for?

Unless you have backups, restore points, shadow copies enabled on the operating system level or a program that does it for you, no. Once a file is overwritten, there is no record of change to go back to without backups running.

You can try renaming the .qt files to 'something.qst' and see if it still has your old data.

... turns out ZC can load the .qt files but the file browser itself has issues showing *All files*.
