Welcome to the 11th edition of Map of the Month.

I'm sorry that I was a bit late, but in my defense, I don't have an excuse... wait, that's not an excuse... DON'T BLAME ME icon_frown.gif
Anyways, let's get started, shall we?

Professor Snugglesworth

Xiion
(No Caption)

So, get to it, soldiers. You have a winner to choose.
Of course, as usual, I'll be taking bets over 100$, with an entrance fee at 50 bucks, over at the stakehouse later tonight... or not. icon_frown.gif
That would have been cool though... oh well, maybe never. XD

Anyways, I have noting more to say... and you know what to do. So I don't see any reason to stay here.

Have fun voting. May the best map win!

PS: I'm blown away by this. If you look at it on a screen by screen basis, it's just okay. But as a whole, it fits together perfectly. I'm am very, very impressed. This wins my vote easily.

Xiion: It's okay, but a little repetitive, and it's hard to tell what I'm looking at sometimes.

Gonna have to null here. Xiion, looks like you're still having color problems - It's too saturated, and several tiles have perspective problems. Secondly, try to keep your map to a 1:1 scale to really reveal all the detail it has.

As for the Professor, it's what I consider standard mapwork - Nothing really stands out. Get some real points of interest in there, along with a more natural design, and you've got it.

And for you, Migo, I've told you before - Wait until a week or two into the month; you're going to get a lot more maps if you just wait.

I had voted for Snugglesworth, the other map has color palettes that don't really digest in my likings. But Snuggle, your map is great, even though some areas of the grass is plain.

Wow, it's 9 to 9 right now. This is close.

On a side note, PS, when you took the map, all the were just sticking their heads out of the water. It looks kind of strange.

Oh good, a close call so far, I was hoping not to totally bomb....

Anyways. I appreciate the feedback. Though (and I probably should have asked for it) I would appreciate more specific problem identification.

Probably, I haven't really worked on/finished the palette yet. Could you be more specific as to which colors/sets of colors/objects look bad?

several tiles have perspective problems

Again, It'd be helpful to know which objects specifically are problematic, so I can go and try and fix them.

But thank you for the feedback so far, I appreciate it.

As for the other map, It looks good, nice, clean, simple... though, and this is largely a personal preference, I dislike how
'closed' the map is. Looking at it, it almost feels like a dungeon with an overworld theme. Most screens only have two ways out, with the exception of a few T's. Just feels too linear to me. I like my overworlds to be open. But that's just preference. (And yes I recognize the irony that initially, my map is rather linear as well, at least until you get the flippers, which you happen to get in this area, but anyways...)

I went with Xiion, merely because he has more inspiration behind his map. Sure there are palette and tile based issues, but as a 'map' overall and its design, its far superior to Snuggles. Snuggles, I can see you're trying to remake the original overworld, but there isn't anything that 'stands' out as unique about your remake of it. You'll have to go far beyond than simple 'height dimensions' to make the 1st look more inspired.

Xiion's map is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen but,

I just think that Prof. Snuggleworth's map fits together better so he gets my vote.

PS: It's all nice and space-ish, I like it, most people do cramped stuff.

Xiion: I love the tiles, the palette needs a little work but other than that it's awesome. *votes*
