I welcome change, unlike many a meatbag, and the Sonic series was in desperate need of change.

 

I think the new designs are... different... (Obviously) I don't really have much to say other than it's gonna take some time to get used to them.

The only one I think actually works is Tails' entire getup, and Sonic's scarf.  Other than that, most of the other stuff looks like too much, or is too jarring.

You have no idea how happy this makes me. I'm really hoping this'll turn out alright. The trailer made the game look alright; although there wasn't a whole lot to look at.

As for the character designs, I actually really like the Tails and Amy designs. Sonic... is alright, I guess? And Knuckles is kinda horrible. But overall the new designs work.

The whole concept of Knuckles gliding now seems absolutely unrealistic.... Because it was realistic before.

Knuckles looks awful because now he's just a cliche big bruiser in appearance. Sonic is just derptastic. Amy is only a little odd and Tails is the only one that doesn't look bad. Eggman... ugh. I dunno, still not a fan of these designs, especially when their normal designs were just so much more cool and timeless. Which is why I'm glad they're restricted to this spinoff rather than a full-time design replacement.

 

And yes, lack of Dimps should be good thing.

I think Knuckles should have a buff upper body. I mean, he's been hurling boulders and carrying giant emeralds for years. You'd have to be pretty ripped to do that.

Looks like a case of "looks fine when drawn but not so great when converted into 3D models" going by the character artwork (preview picture of the "reactions to character artwork" video above) vs. the actual preview videos.

 

Going by the character artwork, Sonic looks slightly iffy to me in some areas (may just be due to the angle he's standing at) but I have no problem with the others, not even the bulked-up Knuckles that people seem to be freaking out over.  Going by the 3D models, though... you get the awkward-looking legs (especially with Sonic) and huge Knuckles looking weird.  Though the legs seem to be an issue more in the game itself than in the TV show.  Some designs just don't transfer to 3D very well, especially not with "standard 3D console game"-style 3D graphics (see: basically all 3D Pokémon games, at least until X/Y finally switched over from that awful old Pokémon Stadium style to the newer cel-shaded type stuff.  And even then there's still a few that just don't look right in 3D, just not nearly as many as before.)

Seems like my reaction's pretty similar to a lot of others. Love Tails, OK with Sonic and Amy, and WTF OMG KNUCKLES WHYYYYYYYY?!!!
