Finally actually using ZQuest again now that I have a new mouse with a working right-click button.
Only took a year.

Currently in the middle of making a weird and random quest in my spare time.
Trying my best to make it as random and weird as I possibly can while still trying to make it fun and easy to follow in-terms of the main objective.

I've been working on making BS versions of enemies from other Zelda games.
Can you show it off.

Here are some examples, they are just on screens near the beginning of the 1st quest remake, I did this while testing them. That is also why octorocks are in some screenshots. Can you show it off.
Various mice.
Bird Warrior guys from the final level of Zelda 2, and some Kodongo from Zelda 3
Those bouncy guys from Zelda 2 dungeons, and lizard guys based on Zelda 3 enemies from the thief's dungeon, they are kinda based off of a prototype version that was found in the gigaleak that didn't have mohawks.

Today I layered the top halves of ~500 technicolor trees. Did a ton of detailing, making more trees that needed to be layered in the process. Put off layering the trees because I couldn't take it anymore. Purged 2 world maps of cset-6 (Yes, using it in the first place is King Scrublord behavior). Built about 15 prototype architectural structures using edited classic tileset sideview bricks. Reordered some screen layers to set up an elevation-sensitive hookshot maze without resorting to over-under sidewarp shenanigans. Refined some palette structures. Made a few more test screens, Pet my cat. Walked in the woods. made meatballs. Gimped together a composite map. Wrote this.

What a wonderfully colourful, varied and imaginative map! I really like it!
As for me this past week I've made many screens, made some custom enemies, made a cutscene, wrote many strings and most importantly finished scripting the L2 boss.
Here's a sneak preview of the boss:

Here's a sneak preview of the boss:
I love the attitude on that cloud's face. I love the sprigs of grass poking out of the clouds and the leaves somehow wedged into them. I want to Be there.
Hurry up and finish my dude! (kidding take your time, this is awesome work)

Thank you very much for the kind and encouraging words!
To get back on topic, I've been placing some enemies today... I always find it a rather tedious job.

Today I found some other bs tilesets that haven't been worked on in over three years and I have been looking through them for tiles to use in the bs update I'm working on.
I know I've said this before, but I'm super-excited to see your tileset when it is completed. A visually unified BS set has been literally 2 decades in the making!
As for my work, I'm slowly approaching 2 complete overworld maps, with only the NE corner left of the NW map. I'm spending the evening alternating between working out the palette structure and visual motifs for the next overworld map, and detailing the my map I'm working on.
Heavily weighing the option of implementing my dungeons from paper into ZQ, instead of the third overworld so I can release a Demo. Been at this for a month and a half though, so it's probably not the most pressing concern.
