We here at P4d have decided to host a little contest, the 2 Week Quest Contest. This objective in this contest is to make a simple, yet fun quest within 2 weeks. This topic is to gauge interest and for suggestions on the rules.

Starting Date: Friday, November 30th.
Due Date: Friday, December 14th.

RULES:
1. Really, any version as long as they're still available for download.
2. Must have at least 4 dungeons
3. Any Tileset can be used

Submissions will be PMed to all three P4d leaders (Evan the Great, The Satellite, and Plissken) and voting will begin December 15th.

Discussion, questions, and suggestions are encouraged.

Guess what, i might even do this! even tho i never made a quest.. this might be a good thing to get use to making quests!
so ya, i might do this! and would it be cheating if i started before Friday? lol, but I'm not going to anyways because i don't cheat! but still....

No ideas for suggestions yet, but ill think of a few icon_biggrin.gif

and also this might be a little hard for me because like i said, never made a quest, and theres school, and theres me sharing the computer, I'm normally on 2 hours, then my bro for 2 hours and then me for 2 hours and so on, but i might be able to do this still icon_smile.gif

Hmm... I may be interested in this. I will ponder about this and back to you guys. The only thing that turns me off is the fact that it has to be 2.10.2 or lower as I would probably use TDS tileset, but it was done in 2.5 betas. So yeah, I will ponder about it.

Hmm... let's see... I've got an idea... but... No... it won't work... I can't make 4 dungeons in 2 weeks... :/ damn

Hmmm... I was thinking about a little just-overworld quest, but I put down the idea because it takes away too much time from my main quest... But if you encourage me with a contest... I might do it with that 4 small dungeons... I can make a good but not so special dungeon in 2 days...

Rely, this might be hard to do in 2 weeks for some people, but the people who don't have school (or a job) will have a big benefit to this, how about giving 3 weeks? that 1 week will help.

This will be really hard considering I can't let my parents see zquest. (I'm trying to make a quest for them as a surprise present.)

You know what? If you'll lower the minimum dungeon number to 2, I will join.

I'd do this, but not without the newest betas.
I find it hard to be satisfied if I can't use scripts to make things look better nowadays icon_unsettled.gif

It doesn't have to be below 2.10 The maximum allowed is 2.10.2 icon_razz.gif

But seriousky, if you have scripts, you'll use up too much time getting your desired result. There'll be no time for the main parts of the quest.

I have a couple questions:

1. Do we need to write description like at the Expos?
2. Do we need to provide preview screens?
3. We host the file and PM the link, or send you the file in email?
4. Is it unethical to show screens (e.g. SotW) about it before the release or tell main info about it?
5. What if it turns out to be big? (Using the classic set and making LoZ style dungeons 2 weeks are enough for a very long quest.)

Just depends what the scripts are fuzzyman icon_biggrin.gif

If you want to script a new uberweapon for every dungeon it's likely to take a long time.
If you want to have the player press start on the title screen instead of down, have strings end cutscenes without pressing down, and have talkable NPCs and signs, it's unlikely to take a long time (especially seeing as all of those scripts are already around =P)

Dang, I can't even enter the contest. My computer doesn't run 2.10. Oh well, maybe next year 2.5 will be out and I can enter the contest with a 2.5 quest.
