I was saving a quest in Zquest and then it crashed and my laptop restarted itself. Luckily I had the autobackup thingy on, so I lost very little of my work. It also left a file scOjSZfc.tmp which I think might be a partial save of my quest? I also saw a file called zc.lck? It also said something about restoring using my last backup when I restarted zquest. I think I was running zquest longer than I normally do around 2 hours.

I'm using Linux v2.50.2

Here is the allegro.log

I had it crash again though this time it was after closing zquest and I was opening the ZC player, and the laptop just shutdown, and didn't restart. I wasn't running it that long this time. This time the temp file was called pkDHTxmM.tmp I didn't lose anything, but though I should report this just in case it helps.

Thanks VEL. This is all Linux stuff that I can't do much about at this time, but the .lck file is used to determine if ZC is running or not, to prevent running multiple instances. IDK why it is crashing, nor what Distro and version you are using. We will, I hope, have 2.53.x and 2.55 on Linux this year. You may want to drop down to 2.50.1 on Linux for now, or use 2.50.2 with WINE, until stable, new Linux versions are available.

ZQuest should not do anything to cause Linux to crash, but this again could be a lib conflict with your distro and due to the sheer number of flavours of Linux, it is hard for us to test this sort of issue.

Delete zc.lck before running again. If this file is present ZC Player will not open.

You might have a bad RAM module in your system, and as soon as Linux tries to utilise that RAM, it crashes. It could also be a thermal issue, or some other OS conflict. Hard to say here.

The .tmp files are only generated on init when opening ZC Player and loading saved games, as a buffer; and when compressing a quest during a save operation. They are used as temporary storage for compression and decompression.

I'm using Lubuntu 18.10
Well I've only had it crash twice since I started using it last year in September. I've had other programs crash more often than ZC. Also zc.lck has been on there since it first crashed, and it still runs without me deleting it.

I think there is a good chance of it being a RAM problem, this laptop has alot of loose connections and I have thought the RAM might have a dirty connection. Other parts have dirty connections like the indicator lights, sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Also the laptops CMOS battery is dead and whenever I start it up I have to go through the BIOS to start it up, I always click ignore all changes, but recently I have wondered if I should be doing something differently.

Overall this hasn't been much of a problem, I just thought it would be best to post any errors I have in case the info could be helpful.
