Went ahead and voted for Bagu. I love seeing new stuff. That said, it gives me 1.92 quest vibes.

Three shots, three dramatically different styles.
Definitively! Fun to see such varying submissions

Interesting graphics for certain. The screen design is also quite appealing. I really like how you shaded the fence posts using no gradient, but I think that how the shading differs for the different objects makes things clash a little bit. For example the bricks on the house in contrary to the other objects. I think it could benefit from changing these clashing things.

This certainly is one of the finest classic desert screens out there. I really like the floor detailing, especially those rocks popping out of the sand. That tent is also nicely sprited.

Horrible!

I know what you mean, but I think it the same with some tiles in the classic set.
On some objects, the incendece of light is at the upper left corner, some others seem to be lighted in front (symetrical)
...sorry. It's difficult for me to explain what I mean, properly.
...Sometimes I struggle with english.
Usually I put the light in the upper left corner, when I design new graphics.
