So hows the tileset going along?
If its getting kinda tiresom, (the ripping and grabbing process can be. :/), I or any other person supporting this quest could have a go at it.
I'd hate to see such an awesome tileset such as this die because of boredom or inactivity. Especially when I sprited somthing for ya'. icon_razz.gif

Can we see some "progress screenshots"?
I'd like to know if my subscreen/monster made it in it. :o
I'm also working on another subscreen for ya, the active kind. icon_wink.gif

edit

If I were to work on this, I'd need to know a lot of things.
Is their a triforce, items, etc?
Name a bunch of things you'd like and I'd jazz it up into one big special subscreen.

----
edit, again

So heres what I was thinking, tell me what you think.
As you probably know, the abilities look like cards.
http://www.spriters-...a/ka_powers.gif

Within the game, you can get abilities and such, which can be equipable items.
Their are a... lot of abilities as you counted.

What if I were to do a sprite of Kirby holding a hand of cards?
http://www.worth1000...40690aFie_w.jpg

or somthing similar.

Hrm.
What're you doing about that?
Making one for items to fit in or just recolouring the original ones?
Why'd you need items or triforce pieces in the active subscreen?

That'd be lame ;-)

...and also not very 'Kirby'.
I'm liking the recoloured cards.

I honestly don't know really icon_razz.gif
I'm waiting for his response so I can work on it.

I can't do anything until he tells me what he wants in it.

I'm still on-board this. I myself have been waiting for his response as well. I currently hold the .QST file until he returns. (I dunno when that'll be.) It's been a little slow for me, but I'll pick-up the pace.

Nice work, by the way, Zem! icon_biggrin.gif Keep it up!

Edit: After looking over the sheet again, Ijust realized I have the french version. Wow, didn't know that. Lol.

The french version has the "Canon" or somthing in it. icon_razz.gif
I'd stick with it.

Joe123 told me earlier today on MSN that he'd like to script Kirbys movements and attacks, etc.
He's (like everyone else) waiting for a reply from AgentLYM.

Interestingly enough, the Wii Virtual Console port also has the Cannon card in it.

I've got a few scripts going, I'm working on graphics for kirby at the moment.
I ripped a couple sprites of my own into Z1, only took 15 mins or so.
I think I'm gonna have to redo everything and make a 'Kirby->Action' type function simillar to Link->Action to tell what Kirby's currently doing though, which is gonna be pretty horrific...

Phew! What a week! Well, I'm back. Sorry for forgetting to say publicly that I'd be leaving for a week... Don't worry, this tileset is not dead yet. icon_razz.gif

Anyways: Wow! You guys got quite a bit done while I was gone! Blaman, you can send the QST file to me anytime you like!

And, Joe, thanks for working on the scripts! I don't think I could've done 'em by myself... I'll help if I can, though!

Zemious, sure you can do a Poker Kirby ( icon_razz.gif ) if you want! Maybe make a Magic Kirby like in the newer GBA games? And for the Kirby triforce and stuff... I guess I probably will need a replacement. Although, I could probably rip the Star Rod pieces for that. It would be awesome if you made a custom subscreen for the SR pieces! I don't know if there would be items and such in the kirby games, though... I don't know what to fill up the active subscreen with... Any ideas?

Well, once blaman sends me the QST file, I'll try to get some progress screens up.

Thanks for all the help, guys!

Well, my idea was to scrap the active subscreen and just have a pause screen like in the original game personally icon_shrug.gif
It'd be scripted.

I wanted to 'clone' the orignal kirby engine as best I could.
The only problem with that is that you wouldn't really be able to change anything without knowing ZScript pretty well.
It would allow you to make pretty good Kirby games though.
If you're up to scripting, if you write some scripts for the powers that'd be awesome, because it's (hopefully) going to be modular enough to just put in new powers with relative ease.

Graphics for Kirby at the moment isn't proving very easy though.
And I need to touch up the sucking and things.

Ah... a scripted pause screen? Can't believe I didn't think of that before... icon_razz.gif

Sure, I could try a few ability scripts! But, do you think you could send me one of yours so I have something to work around? I haven't scripted in a while, but having a 'skeleton' script for the abilities would be extremely helpful!

And, I'll send you the quest file that I've worked on. (Blaman hasn't sent the updated one to me, yet)...

The one I have has most of the tiles all the way through GG level 1 or 2, I think. Also, it has most of the normal Kirby sprites... haven't gotten around to ripping his abilities yet. All of the Kirby sprites are made into combos at the bottom of the combo list, just so ya know.

Hope it helps! And thanks again for working on it!

You know AgentLym, you don't have to take the hard path and rip them your self.
Let others rip them for you, example:
http://www.spriters-...a_abilities.gif

http://www.spriters-...e=ka_powers.gif

I don't know if that's all of the abilities but its a good start.
Do you have AIM or MSN or ever get on IRC, we should chat about the subscreen. I really need some input on it, indepth.

[edit]
I was just thinking about the recoloring process for those abilities available on Spriters Recourse, its possible to do a mass recolor from the yellowish kirby to the pink.
I think GIMP can do it.

Well, I haven't written any abilities yet, apart from a (very) simple suction script.
Which actually took a very long time to get right, although I do have a much better knowledge of circular measure in programming now.
I doubt it'd be of much use to you seeing that though.
I'll write you a skeleton that you can use in a minute though.

I'm not too fussed about having the most up-to-date version, I just need something that looks like Kirby really so I can attach graphics.
What I current have is:
A pretty complete Jump and Fly script, Slide Tackle, a very simple start to the Suck script, a bit of a 'walking with enemy in mouth' script, and a 'Shoot star if you press B, copy power if you press down' script, which is almost at the stage where I can add powers into it with relative ease.
I've started adding graphics though, which is getting very complicated.
It's all covered by the global script though obviously, so you don't have to set it up screen-by-screen.

Combos is great, because I'm using an ffc for Kirby, so I'll need them comboed.
Abilities isn't so crucial yet cause, as I said, I haven't done any personally =P

EDIT: Mass recolour?
What do you think we have different CSets for Zemious...

You could even give Link a ring with no damage multiplier, and use an ESP palette for the yellow kirby if you were short on palette space.
Not that you should be in a NES game though =P

Oh... well ... that's cool. icon_razz.gif
I was about to get busy on that. icon_razz.gif

[edit]
What do you think of somthing like this for a subscreen?
http://www.spriters-..._subscreens.png

The default subscreen is the "Normal" card.
When kirby sucks up an enemy, the changes subscreens to the next one?

I could even do one for "Starry"! ^_^;

Wow, it looks so much better actually in Kirby rather than in Z1 =D

CODE
ffc script powerskeleton{
    void run(){
        while(true){
            if(Link->InputB){
            //power goes in here
            Link->InputB = false;
            }
        Waitframe();
        }
    }
}

Thanks for the skeleton, Joe!

And, are you guys suggesting that I use the KatAM subscreen instead of the KA subscreen? I can see that being done. Just make a separate screen for each ability subscreen, and for each ability have an if statement for the respective subscreen screen? I just want to make sure... I don't really know what you have planned for that, Joe. I could probably fix the skeleton script for that.

And just so everybody knows, I am using Spriter's Resource for all the sprites I'm ripping. icon_razz.gif

AND!!!! If anyone really wants to be of help, could you rip Yogurt Yard? Map-ripping doesn't sound too hard... I just don't know how to do it. But, Spriter's Resource does NOT have any Yogurt Yard levels to rip from. Also, Orange Ocean is missing some levels. So is Rainbow Resort......... Maybe they are not needed, since they (may... I'm not sure) just use the same tiles, just different palettes?

Well, thanks!

========EDIT========

Full palette of what? The main palette?
