Windows keyboard. Stuck in the quest Tower of Shadows that requires a boomerang shot at 45 degrees. I've tried for an hour and never even gained a few degrees.... always flings straight. Also tried a cheap Amazon NES-style USB controller, same results.

Thank You

What controller are you using, and what version of ZC?

A lot of keyboards can't handle some combinations of three or more keys, and when people can't throw the boomerang diagonally, that's always been the reason why. But that's usually just one or two angles, not all four, and I haven't heard of it happening on a controller before. Still, you could try remapping keys.

Although... Apparently, there's a spot in that quest that requires you to throw the boomerang and then angle it diagonally. Is that what you're talking about? That's just a matter of timing. If you can't get it, try using F4 to advance one frame at a time. Throw the boomerang, then press the diagonal direction in the next frame. Press F3 to resume the game afterward.

Yes, I'm on just a Windows keyboard with Alt for A, Ctrl for B, and the Arrow keys for direction. I also have tried a very cheap Amazon $8 controller that look identical to my old 90s NES controller. I've fiddled with timing a million times and pretty sure that won't work. I'll F4 frame freeze next

Thank You

I suggest the iBuffalo controllers, or the bundled AntiMicro software. That, or a good keyboard. There are a lot of options now that are fairly inexpensive using Cherry switches. IDK what USB controller you bought, but at only US$8, the quality is likely dubious.
