So I've been playing some quests, reminiscing about quests I've played in the past, and am currently in the process of making a new quest and I've been primarily focused on quests with humor or at the very least bizarre ideas that defy expectations. What are the funniest, weirdest, and most bonkers quests you've ever played?

Here's some of the quests that come to mind for me personally (In no particular order).

Mike's Funhouse:

Haven't beaten it yet, but I recently got back into it and passed the Paradise World. I've also spoiled a few parts of it on YouTube. I doubt that there will ever be another quest this packed to the brim with memes and pop culture references.

Ibuprofen and Pessimistic Pizza:

Two joke quests by Exate. I'm including both of these together cause they are both very similar. Of the two, I would say that I liked Pessimistic Pizza the most because it had more unique ideas whereas some parts of Ibuprofen were a bit forgettable in comparison. I especially liked the Windows 95 dungeon. That was brilliant.

I Hate Mayonnaise 2: Depressive Donuts:

The quest I've been recently the most focused on. It shares some inspiration with Pessimistic Pizza and if I had known this earlier I would have played it sooner. The humor does not permeate every single part and there are still some serious dungeons, but either way everything is well structured and it looks very good from an aesthetic standpoint. Funniest dungeon I've seen in this so far was the America dungeon. Needless to say, I did not expect that.

The Darknut Within:

A quest I've played more recently but haven't beat yet. Concept is very simple. Almost every tile, enemy, and item are all replaced with Darknut tiles and its surprisingly funny because of this.

Link Vs. The US Government:

Figured out about this one when it was featured on the main page once. There's really no gameplay at all and you can clear it within a few minutes, but there's some really funny dialogue that takes a crack at political themes.

Mario's Insane Rampage:

One of the first quest I played and probably the oldest of any of these mentions. Includes some very vulgar humor. Not recommended for the faint of heart. Never played the sequel but I heard that it is somehow even more outrageous.

Mario's short quest. The bad design with the jumping on spikes makes me laugh.

Mario quest. I am stuck in the top left corner. This made my day.

Mike's Fun House. The smiles eat people! I like that!

Link's Quest for the Hookshot 1.

Sometimes for ironic reasons, sometimes for intended reasons. Regardless, the quest is a national treasure.

I've heard good things about both the first and second LQftH. I'll probably give one of them a go as soon as I'm done with Depressive Donuts.

Peril of Rectangle Country

But that's not even finished. Am I to assume that it will be a funny quest, or is it funny just for the fact that it's taken this long to make and is still not finished?

Hmm... who knows?  There are old demos available if you look around the ZC expos.  That said, I'm not at liberty to further elaborate until it's finished, I wouldn't want to spoil what Aslion has planned...

Who could forget The Darknut Within? I sure did apparently, but lets correct that mistake.

to everyone who said i hate mayonnaise 2: why.  the humor in that quest is extremely dated and cringey and unfunny. why would you laugh at it. i'm not saying that to be self-deprecating or to fish for people saying "omg no it is funny" it's just the least funny in the entire database. here's a list of things that are funnier than IHM2:

  • CSPAN broadcasts
  • transcripts of legal proceedings
  • road trips across interstate 80 in nebraska
  • heart disease
  • pat sajak
  • joe biden's presidential campaign
  • people who are reading this thinking "haha yeah!  donald trump is ssooooo much better, and he;s going to red pill ameirica!"
  • homestar runner (ive been rewatching it lately and it still fuckin rules)
  • estonian-russian political relations

here's a list of things that are less funny than IHM2:

  • those "owl turd" comics that get posted all over social media

Well all things considered, even if the humor is not the best by today's standards, I still think it is solid from a gameplay and graphics perspective, and that's all that truly matters in the end. Right?

Probably something moosh did, hard to pin down an exact quest I prefer tho. There have been some other quest with funny moments too, but I can't think of any quest that specifically stick out as funny (and not for a lack of trying over the years by authors)?

I love DayDay by Joelmacool, for its surreal comedy. surreal comedy is a form of humour that deliberately violates causal reasoning, resulting in events that are obviously illogical. Surreal comedy tends to create a lot of absurd, irrational and bizarre situations and expressions of nonsense. The roots of the art and craft of this genre truly depends on surrealism. DayDay puts you in a nonsensical, absurd world of tile errors and NPCs make no sense by desiring to love you upon first meeting - a social behaviour that makes no sense in our normal society. It has accumulated a cult following over the years resulting in sequels and homages that are more contemporary to the classic masterpiece known as DayDay.
