I need some ideas for a scripted item/weapon - Thunder Boots.  Named for the thunderous noise it makes when Link hits the ground, these boots have Link jump in place and upon landing, it shakes the screen.   I already have it scripted so I don't need help with that.  The question I have is:  Ok, so Link causes screen to quake.  So then what?  What puzzles can I design around this?  What type of triggers?  So far, I have it make treasure chests that sit on top of pillars fall down for Link to grab the item inside.  Other than, what else should it be able to do, if anything.

You could do something like that puzzle in FSA where the hammer reveals where spikes are in a trap room. And of course in combat it could stun nearby enemies like the quake hammer scroll. Maybe it could flip certain objects over, like certain loose floor tiles? Generally I hear quake effect item and I think of it as pretty much a stronger hammer. So things a charged hammer attack can do in Zelda, your item could as well. Could also have some overlap with bomb triggers. Cracked floors? Thunder boots can break those as well.

This was used for the Book of Mudora and Keys in LTTP. It was also used to crack certain rocks, one of the gravestones, and the Lumberjacks' tree to reveal staircases and holes. Since it is thunder you can also have it activate mechanisms from the electricity.

And don't use it when you're standing in shallow water, or else...

Both great ideas actually! Hmm...wonder exactly what kind of mechanisms though.
