Im in the slow process of creating a hghly organized new tileset based on the pure tileset featuring a brand new Palette (much more versatility than before) and a convergance of all tiles that look good (pure-esque style). I have scoured out the enitre Tileset Database and looked through all the tiles (except for sprites) and have picked which ones will be included. So far I have done a whole lot of work on this (recoloration and creation of many new tiles) and it is looking very, very good. However It is also alot of work and if anyone is interested in helping me I would be more than happy to share the load. =P If you are interested, then contact me via e-mail or more perferably MSN. Here are two teaser pics of what Ive done the last 2 days. Its just a small portion of what I have done and shows a few new tiles and the scope of tiles I plan on using.

Sample 1

Sample 2

If your inbetween quests, taking break from traditional quest building, interested in a new tileset, or just plain interested then give me a message. I'll take any help you' like to offer, small or large. Thanks.

CG did I not say enough about DoR in the palette topic...? icon_wink.gif

Basically, I'm doing exactly what you're talking about, except I'm adding lots of tiles as well, some of them replacing core parts of the tileset (mainly mountains, dirt, and sand).

In fact, some of your tiles look remarkably like mine. icon_eek.gif

LTM is making the next release of Pure, but he's expressed that he wants to maintain the overall nature of Pure: mainly the palettes, so that database compatibility will be retained. So, your idea might not be compatible with his. But it could be compatible with mine. icon_heh.gif

Here's an offhand suggestion: if you would like to keep your tileset your own, perhaps we can agree to use the same standard palette layout? If that's the case, then we can both have a leg-up, because our new palettes will suddenly be usable in TWO tilesets...

Yeah, So far I am keeping the changes you suggested about the tileset. So ours should be compatible. Since our palettes should be identical in structure, and your re-coloring most tiles as I am. If you would like, we could split the work, and work together on re-coloring the tiles. Since I am making more or less a copy of everything for at least 2 of the colors a Cset would contain, the implemation of tiles in both TileSets would be flawless. If you are interested in teaming up for that, e-mail me.

Actually, I've already recolored nearly all of the tiles in my set. The only ones I really left uncolored were ones I probably won't be using. Also, part of the job of a total palette revamp is to re-order and alter the colors of every palette in the set, and Pure Update v2.1... has a lot of palettes. ^_^; I've done about 2/3rds of them.

Anyway, you could probably really benefit from borrowing my set to rip recolored Pure tiles, since so many are already recolored. Many of them have been improved, too. We were on so much of the same track that you'll probably find that, without knowing, we both edited a lot of the same tiles. icon_smile.gif

I'll email you now so you'll have my email, should you need it. And I'll try to get going on those sprite CSets soon. *pulls out the color-mapping notebook once again...* Actually, there's more work to be done in sprite CSets than anywhere else. I'm open to suggestions -- I need to figure out how to somehow accomodate BS enemies whilst perpetuating the standard layout... icon_confused2.gif
