For a while, I've been working on a remake of Joe123's the Fort Knights quest. A lot of it is done, so I figured I'd show it off now. For more details, I'll copy and paste the description of the project page:
Using the Firebird tileset, the remake aims to bring back this overlooked gem, to make it playable in 2.50.2 and to add in new side content. This quest takes place after Link's Awakening where Link is taken to the world of the Fort Knights via the Wind Fish. The Fort Knights are knights that have caused havoc for the people in that world and Link is tasked with taking down the Fort Knights, and then the Commander Knight. Only then will Link be able to return to Hyrule!
Features:
- Explore a 8x8 overworld made up of 4 main areas and a village.
- 3 dungeons that can be done in any order followed by a final dungeon, all with custom bosses.
- Custom items ranging from Roc's Cape to three tunics with unique abilities.
Changes:
- Redesigned dungeons, to become larger and a bit more complex.
- Two new sidequests: A trading sequence and a MM-styled stray fairy sidequest for each dungeon.
- Additional perks for the tunics:
Red Tunic: Offence Upgrade
Blue Tunic: Defence Upgrade
Gold Tunic: Sword Beams
We don't know the release date as of yet, but the overworld, caves and houses are all finished. Here are some WIP screenshots:
Using Firebird did create a bit of a challenge, in regards to enemies and NPCs, but they're being made slowly but surely. All this content will be free to use after the project is done. Special thanks and shout out to Sheik for helping me with some of the overworld palettes and Feenicks for his awesome Firebird enemy sprites. We felt like Firebird was the right choice for a remake of a very GB-esque quest. A big reason why I decided to remake this is due to the fact that it seems overlooked and not very playable in 2.50 and higher versions due to sequence breaking and oddities. This amazing miniquest definitely deserves more attention, and I feel a remake and modernizing it a bit might just help with that.
Thanks for reading and feel free to ask anything!
