  • Screen Type: Dungeon/Overworld
  • On-screen Criteria:
    • Make a screen using any tileset and theme.
    • Your screen must include both dungeon and overworld elements.

Holy cow!
Amy wishes that was Eddy over here- wait what?
Exploring through the Hill Depths...
An overworld...but with a temple underneath?! Interesting...
I wonder how good of an idea it is to have an item that can spontaneously create fire located in a forest/dungeon...
Current Challenge:

  • Recreate the following screen using any tileset excluding Classic:

I intended this as a temple floating in space, built into a floating rock. You don't have to make it in space. After all, it's just gotta resemble the screen so you can do anything with it. I just got a bit creative with the base screen this round. :P

Our current place in the rotation is in red!

I voted for eddy because I felt his screenshot got the overall concept of this week challenge nailed. That and the fact that I'm digging the faded lime green/muddy-dust yellow palette it has.

Jared had a really cool concept that I don't think I've seen before. It actually makes a whole lot of sense though- because dungeons are generally under the ground link walks! I voted here.

Maybe in a quest, someone would have to bomb the ground to open up the dungeon? Very creative, Jared!

I voted Eddy. That picture brings back memories of playing OoS.

Damn, this is a pretty challenging week, love all of these shots.

Joelmacool - Them colours. This looks pretty cool and I like how everything blends together. Nice job.

Orithan - She would never say such a thing :V Nice shot, I like the minimal dungeon elements which adds quite a bit to the screen.

Eddy - Green is not a creative colour.

Jared - This is an incredibly unique idea. I really love the idea of having an overworld on top of a dungeon like this. Fantastic job.

Coolgamer - Looks pretty neat for a classic shot, but there isn't really a whole lot to say. The corners of the walls don't look correct though.

Nulled since I'm in the competition.

I have to go with Jared. And I have a few things that I like most about it.

1. It's the one that mixes together dungeon and overworld the most. By that I mean it feels balanced and as though the two concepts are really being meshed into one. Not the others didn't do the same. But not to the same extent.

2. It's lively. I'm a big fan of visuals, especially when it comes to the details
As long as it's not overdone. Again, I felt Jared's had the most balance.

3. The concept. It's the most creative concept. I can't think of a time where the dungeon was blended in so well with the overworld and with such an interesting theme. I would say it's comparable to the Snowpeak Ruins from Twilight Princess.

I would also give my honorable mention to Joel. He had my #2 spot for each of the above.
