OK, so basically, the computer I usually use has been maved to my room with the TV as a moniter. My TV is tiny and as a result, instead of being able to fit 13 icons into a coloumn on the desktop, I can only fit 7. Does anyone know if there's a way to shrink the icons so I can fit more in a column in XP? I know it's possible in 7 but I'm not sure about XP.

Right click on your desktop, and click "Properties". Open up the "Appearence" tab, and then click "Advanced". Click the dropdown menu that says "Desktop", and then click "Icon". Right next to where "Icon" is currently it should say, "Size: 32". Just lower or raise that number to shrink or blow up the icons.

Tried it but I can still only fit in 7. It just shrank the image.

EDIT:Also tested Icon Spacing but it didn't do anything.

Now, this works in Windows 7, but it should work in XP:

Focus on the desktop, hold Ctrl, and move your mouse wheel up and down. That should be able to adjust the size of the desktop shortcuts to what you want.

Besides, what is your native resolution? Why not try to force a larger resolution onto your TV?

Nope, didn't work. I also tried Alt and Shift instead of Ctrl. And I can't get a bigger resolution.

That's not what I want to happen. I want to be able to fit more icons into a column of my desktop.

I'm not quite sure how to do it but it works for me and I'm using XP. Basically my dad did it for me. I observed at what he did but now I forgot. The only thing I can remember was going on 'Properties' but I don't remember where.

I recently did the opposite and enlarged my mysteriously shrunken icons.

Here's how: Go to the appearance properties (control panel or desktop right-click), appearance tab, properties, icon in the drop-down box, set the size to 32 or whatever you like.

Hope it works for you.

It's alreday on 32 and when I tried shrinking it with that method, It only made the pictures smaller.

What do you want to shrink? The text? The spacing? Spacing is in the same box as icon size.

The size of the icons, by which I mean, the picture, text and spacing. I tried dcreasing the spacing but nothing happened.
