The editing program that I'm using for making videos is called VideoPad. It's fairly easy to use, but I can't get the videos that I make to upload in HD. I'll render the video in HD, and wait the extra couple hours for it to do so, but when I upload it, the video only goes up to 480p.

Does anybody know what settings I should use to get HD uploads, since the automatic YouTube HD Settings built in don't seem to work, OR does anybody have a better editing program that they recommend that's easier to use? (Fading in overlays is a fairly clunky and very unintuitive process that took me forever to figure out on VideoPad.)

I just use Sony Vegas and render using the Sony H.264 codec.  It has a youtube uploading feature, though I can never get it to work with how youtube's api works (since integrating it with Google+, it doesn't read my username/password correctly anymore...)

Well, not everyone has the somewhat expensive Sony Vegas program. ;)

Anyways, make sure to render the video with dimensions (for size) of 1280x720, 1920x1080, or higher. Also, if you want the 720p HD to look good, make sure to render the video with H.264 video encoding at at least 5,000 kbits/second. I also make the file type a .mp4 as those are probably the best video file format.

There could be another reason why the video doesn't show up in HD. When you upload a video to YouTube and it finishes processing, YouTube still takes time to "load" higher quality version of the video. For example, when I upload a 1080p video and it is done processing, at first, the maximum quality is 360p and then it increases from there until it reaches 1080p as the maximum quality. So you're problem could be that you haven't waited long enough for YouTube to load HD for your video.

If none of those work, then I don't know why it isn't working. But otherwise, I hope this helps you. :)

Yeah, it turns out that I'm just impatient. I double-checked the HD video, and it's now at a full 1080p. A bit overkill for ZC, unless you're uploading a stream like Eppy and you have the chat in-video, just so that the text is clear and easy to read. The 60 FPS capabilities that they have up now should help with some visual effects, like how I have my fog set up. I'll have to play with the settings so that I can do 60 FPS too.

I'm glad everything is working well now! And yeah, 60 FPS capabilities are really awesome. :)
