I've had this problem for years and just now remembered this place had a tech help forum.

My gamecube's reset button has been stuck for years,and I can never get it to push.It's stuck in a down position and won't pop back up,the games still work,but the button is stuck.Any idea how to get it to pop back up?It's like this...

-----X--------------------power
l- reset---------------------------l
l-----------------------------------l
l---c-------c---------c------c-----l
l_______________________l

c = controller ports
l_ = gamecube
X = where the reset button should be

Fixed your ascii art a little with the code tags. You'll have to re-arrange it to get the X in the right place again though ~Joe123

EDIT:made it perfect,didn't notice the code tags though

Nice Gamecube icon_wink.gif

Have you tried unjamming it with a paper clip? Make some kind of hook to try to pop it open or something.

Try a vacuum cleaner or something to suck it up?

Wiggle it around a bit, see if that helps. Or do what T.Platinum suggested.

Hmmm, I've taken a Gamecube apart once, trying to remember what I saw...

It's possible that the spring mechanism is no longer attached to the button. When the Gamecube is off, try turning it upside down and see whether the reset button is loose and detached. If so, it'll rattle around when you shake it like that.

If it is loose, you're probably going to have trouble fixing it without taking the whole thing apart, which would require a special screwdriver bit and a lot of time... you might just want to content yourself with using the power button instead. But at least the system still works. icon_unsettled.gif

This started happening to mine after about three years. It's just what happens to it after a while.

The best solution, I've found, is to tap the gamecube on the side of the shell right next to the reset button. After the seventh or eighth time getting stuck it will become gradually easier to unstick.

But trust me, you'll have to deal with this plenty over your next few years with that gamecube.
