My friend is having an issue where the frame rate per second is going below 60/60  around 40/40

How do i help them fix this to 60/60?

They also have windows 10 and using the same zelda classic program but the frame rate on theirs is slower.

How do we fix this problem??

Edit: disregard what I said, I somehow didn't realize this was a ZC-specific issue.

Try messing around in ag.cfg. I don't know what any of these actually do (is thee a full documentation anywhere?) but the values I tweaked with to get it working were:

frame_rest_suggest
zc_win_proc_fix
use_dwm_flush

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a setup that both doesn't crash when a USB gamepad is plugged in and allows for uncapping FPS.

Seems like this is a Windows issue and not a hardware one. I had no such problems until a certain Windows update hit. Which means compatibility will probably continue to worsen as Windows gets "better every time." Joy.

"zc_win_proc_fix" was removed since 2.50.1?.. In fact it's best to just use the latest version (2.53.15 IIRC). "frame_rest_suggest" just gives that number to allegro timer rest procedure, so if this number is 0 you might be using 100% CPU by just busy-looping, or not, depends on what Windows wants to do. Default is 1.

Please confirm: This is happening while running ZQuest, not the Zelda Classic quest player?

I've received positive result reports that 2.53.0b15 is faster on w10, than 2.50.2, from JudasRising. I'm unsure how much of that is due to him using DXGL, and I've slated some tests of this for this week.

That ZQuest is doing it though, lends me to believe that something is soaking clock cycles. What mode are they using?

As of at least 2.50.2 it's still there. And I'll update when you shift that decimal point back! You monster! :P

Interesting. I had it on 0 and it seemed to slightly improve the framerate with no noticeable impact on CPU, but that could've been a false positive due to the weird fluctuations it's been doing. I'll bump it up to 1 to be safe I guess...

I still have no clue if your friend is using ZC or ZQuest. Perhaps ask them to sign up on the forum?

The link works, but here is a mirror.
