Could use more ground textures. Add in some more, and it'll be good icon_thumbsup.gif

Nows, here we go.

Ya'll probably remember dis'n from SotW 163.

Though I'm not quite done with it yet.

Other than the trees on the left and the trees in the bottom right, see anything that could use improving? (I know there is icon_razz.gif )

It looks like the trees on the edges are going to interfere with player movement. Other than that, I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with the pic. You should start getting some new ones, though. icon_blah.gif

The only ones that would impede movement are the ones on the bottom. The treetops are overhead, and don't stop your movement. I'm thinking to remove those and fix up the boxiness.

This look alot better?

New what? Trees? Nah, these are all I need for this scene. icon_blah.gif

No, I meant new screenies. I think my grandma would recognize this one. icon_razz.gif Besides, I LOVE those trees. Next to grass, those are probably the most used combos in my quest.

But the boxiness IS noticeably better. The upper right tree is also gonna cause movement issues.

No it won't. icon_blah.gif

It's easily walked around.

IPB Image

I edited the sand transitions in the mid-right portion of the screen. A cookie if you can tell me where Link is. icon_razz.gif

EDIT: Oh, and this is the only screen I have available that I need feedback on. I don't have that many screens available (and nobody wants to see my forest icon_blah.gif ), and there won't be until the DoR Update is available. I'm being patient, though.

I kinda like the ALttP tree platforms the way they are. It borders the Lost Woods, and that's how you enter the Kokiri Forest.

Anyways, speaking of forests, here is the Lambondin Woods, including the Hero's Shrine so you know where its placement is.

(so I don't get in trouble, all these images are seperate)

The problem I'm facing is ground detail. I'm wondering whether I should put some bushes (SHRUBBERY!!!) and tall grass around, like in the one beneath the shrine. Again, I reiterate that I'm still waiting for the update, with the SD3 grass, so I'll settle any of those problems later. Filling up the space is my current concern. icon_unsettled.gif

Maybe we can comment better if you showed us the daytime version of the picture. icon_rolleyes.gif

Maybe a couple patches of bushes here and there, and a couple of small trees around wouldn't hurt. icon_wink.gif

I'll work on that, soon as I get some more suggestions...

Anyways, I have a shot I want to submit to next week's SotW. However, I want to get some critique ahead of time and fix it up before I submit it. It is from my upcoming ALttP-style quest, Apocalypse of Hyrule. The version that I used for the shot is 2.11 beta 15. Here's the shot:

So, what can be fixed? A big thanks ahead of time.

@Lambodlin Woods: It needs some interactive objects (bushes and grass). Also, it is pretty square (for a forest, anyway) and that could probably be rectified easily.

@ALttP Shot: Very... LttP-ish. If I didn't know any better I'd say that was a shot from the actual game! Only complaint here is that the subscreen shadow color makes the text hard to read. Also, won't those poor moblins be crushed by Link's giantness? icon_razz.gif

Well, the subscreen text is set up the default way for an ALttP style subscreen. The subscreen is arranged based off of ALttP's subscreen, albeit with the magic meter edited to a horizontal one.

The Big Link is placed there for nostalgic purposes. icon_razz.gif

I spy a problem myself: in the lower left-hand corner, there's a block. It won't impede movement, but it may be an annoying obstacle. icon_wacky.gif

The dirt arrow is for nostalgic purposes. Older Zeldas had arrows made of natural landforms scattered around. That's why I put it there. icon_smile.gif

IPB Image

I removed the problematic rock and tried a different Link placement. Better?

EDIT: I also can't help but think that it's otherwise empty, though. icon_shrug.gif

EDIT 2: Like, in the middle-bottom area.
