I've got a couple of questions about setting up the parts of my quest that center around the story. Mostly, how to manage exiting the free roaming environment of the rest of the game, and enter into one-time encounters such as cutscenes. One circumstance I'd like to have Link grab a special item before being immediately warped to where the cutscene will take place, so that once he leaves the cutscene screen he won't have any way of going back. But I can't figure out how to get the item to actually warp Link (except by script). At least that idea's more fleshed out than the next one, entering an area (like a house or a dungeon) and only seeing the cutscene upon first entering, or only after progressing so far into the game. The big thing is being able to trigger these events only one time while maintaining the illusion of a mostly seamless free roam world. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? I'd like to be able to cover a wide variety of circumstances to trigger these progressions, so if I need to use screen states, items, and scripts... Well then does anyone have any scripts they could recommend (I'm not at all skilled with writing them)? And how do I keep track of screen states? I want to continue with this momentum I've got, but there's still so much I don't understand and none of the tutorials I've found seem to cover much of what I'm trying to do.

One time events can be done with screen state carry overs. There's no straightforward way to trigger secrets by picking up an item but you can do it. Make a kill all enemies item that looks like the time you want the player to get and then have a trigger enemy on the screen and have the secret warp take you to a place where you get the real item secretly. Then use screen state carryovers to make sure it can't happen again.

You can also accomplish this with direct warps to identical screens.  (If you need an explanation, let me know.)
