Hi! icon_smile.gif

Before I give up on this great quest..... I've just can't seem to defeat this boss here. Been trying for the 3 hours, lost count after 15 tries. I know it's probably something simple that I'm just missing. Tried almost everything Dracus has. Spend most of my time keeping my hearts up. Get to the bottom (a plain blue screen) and I die. I figure your are suppose to defeat him before getting that far down but I just can't seem to do it.

Ok! what's the secret? Am I not holding my mouth right or what. icon_heh.gif

Thank You! icon_biggrin.gif

Okay, there's good strategies to beat him, the easy way, and the not-cheap way. The easy way is to use the Light of the Heavens and just laser him to death. BUT, using that item counts as a bad moral choice, so be careful, depending on what choices you made for the other two. The harder way is to use the Fire Rod. The rapid rate of fire and relatively high damage does a great job pushing him back, put it'll use up your magic fairly quickly, so you need to be careful about moving around and grabbing the magic refills you fall past. While you can heal with the Regenerator, it takes a bit of time, and time's very precious here, so you're better off trying to avoid damage in the first place. The arrows he shoots tend to be a pain for a lot of people, but they're not too hard to dodge, you just need to move up and down. Once you deal enough to damage to him, he'll drop the light, and all you have to do is grab it to finish the fight. Good luck, and if you're having trouble, I can make a video to show how to beat him and/or send you help in various other ways.

Thanks! icon_biggrin.gif I've tried that a couple of times. Both times I died. But I'll try again!

Ah, using that power was a bad moral choice !? So how could I still get the best endings?

Thanks! icon_biggrin.gif I found out about the Fire Rod using too much magic, so I didn't try it after that. I just have a hard time dodging the arrows and traps Oh! not to mention the bombs. icon_lol.gif The old fingers and mind doesn't move or react as fast as they once did. icon_eek.gif

Off to try again.....

Thanks Russ! I finally beat the robot, now I'm at Dracus's second dungeon. By the way, I also did beat Ben at the Sanctuary. Nice idea for a boss, although his presence in Creepypasta still creeps me out.. Still, very nice and polished quest so far! icon_biggrin.gif

You could put that in a spoiler tag, but I understand it now. I was trying to only do good things in this game so I definetly get the best ending. I wasn't aware that Solarite could find out that I use that item.

Good thing, that I still made 2 good choices wich lead to the better cutscene during the final boss! You did great job at this system, Russ. Its also cool that only Dracus determines the end and Link just has to accept it and believe in Dracus icon_lol.gif.

Anyways, good luck Artistic!

Well, I have good news and bad news! The good news first I defeated Markus 3 times using the 'Light'. Bad news every time after he tells me I can have it and says a few choice words under he's breath and the dialogue box disappears, the quest crashes. I don't think its the quest. I'm using Windows 8 and use zlaunch-w to open zelda-w in window mode. That is the only way I can get it to work on Windows 8 right for me. I think it is Windows 8 and my computer that is causing the Appcrash. I don't know if it will crash using the Fire Rod to defeat Markus or not because I can't seem to defeat him that way. icon_frown.gif I might try using a smaller window mode, or I might try it on my Windows XP computer. I probably use my Windows XP computer.

Hope the image isn't too big. If so, sorry!

EDIT: @Avataro Thanks I need all the good luck I could get.

EDIT: Yeah! icon_biggrin.gif I switched to my Windows XP computer and I defeated Markus. I did do it by using the Light. Bad Me!, Bad Me! OH! Well! icon_heh.gif I think I will still get a good ending though. I peeked! icon_naughty.gif

i think one of the issues with the bosses (and some enemies) is that its hard to tell that you are actually hurting them. the first tree boss thing, its hard to tell if slashing the trunk is doing anything - i died a few times because i wasn't sure if where i was slashing was working, then i cycled through the other items i had and tried them, i tried behind the tree, and eventually i just stood there are slashed. same with the metal thing in the final stage of that battle.

on the living isle, its the same with the enemies - the fire throwing tanks and the sentry orbs. they don't flash or knockback like normal enemies.

one thing that might help the bosses (and i realize it would be a lot more work to script) would be a boss health meter.

aside from that, i'm enjoying the quest - the difficulty is nice, though the bosses are a bit harder than the rest of it. i do wish there was more to do. seems like you just go here, do something, go over there, do something else. there isn't a lot of stuff in between. i'd like to see more puzzles, maybe some more people to talk to, maybe a side quest. seems like you tried to do a few extra things on Living Isle (where I am now) with the mini-block puzzles on the edge of the screen, but they more just feel like they are in the way being only one tile from the edge and being so simple. both those screens had so much room devoted to ocean, why not expand the walking space, and design an interesting block puzzle to reach the staircase?

And there's the problem. I'm really bad with block puzzles. I just can't make decent puzzles like that. I tried, and the results were... bad. I definitely hear what you're saying though, about not having enough stuff in between. It's definitely something I'm trying to improve.

As for the boss health meter, that could totally be doable... About the ambiguous damage though, the metallic enemies and certain bosses don't flash when hit because of weird cset stuff, but they still make a noise to indicate they're being hit. I suppose I could go for a more obvious noise though.

Artistic: icon_eek.gif So, something with the game is making ZC crash on Windows 8, but not on XP. That's... very bizarre. I'm gonna talk to the devs about it and see what I can figure out. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. And congrats on beating him!

doesn't have to be a block puzzle. just something to do. have an boomerang trigger FFC flying around the screen that needs to be hit to lower a barrier between you and the staircase. have another jump sequence like on the Nycas cliffs.

I don't believe its your quest, Its Windows 8, it is highly incompatibly with ZC.
It crash's all the time doing anything on windows 8.

Unless the devs can make it compatible with windows 8, there is nothing else that can be done besides run it on a older OS.

No luck this time, russ. The stealth dungeon has really bad design... Living island must have been a rare moment of lucidity. A good script, and nothing more. The boss was a joke. The dialogue lines are the same as any mediocre anime series. Dracus is boring...

The block puzzle... ¬¬ really out of place, totally unfair.

By the way, I don't find the heart piece in the dungeon. I suppose that it is in the simetric north section, but I don't find the path.
