When I open the quest, all I get is link on a black screen in the upper-left corner of the map, with 50 arrows, the wooden b'rang, and bombs. (I'm using version 2.50, i think the latest beta...for Mac)

O_o. Well... That's not supposed to happen. Wait, when you say the latest beta, do you mean RC5, or the actual final release?

What's the purpose of the spell with the red and blue balls? Sorry, I didn't read the explanation, my fault

Okay, I'd you hold them out, they'll absorb fire and magic attacks. So they're kind of like a shield for projectiles. But, there's two things you can do with them. If you let to of the button to bring them back in, they'll refill your health and magic, depending on his many attacks they absorbed. OR, if you let them absorb enough attacks so that they then into whirlwinds, you can press A to have them shoot homing fireballs. They're really helpful for the next level. But arrows or lynel attacks pop them, so be careful.

Okay, which character did you get the boss key with? Link and Dracus each have their own boss keys, and you need to open both boss locks to open the way to the final boss.

It's OK, I answered my own question and now I am at the final Boss Solerite. Ugh, wish I knew his weaknesses icon_lol.gif

Okay, the first phase of the fight follows a pretty simple pattern. He'll back away if you try to attack him. Once you pin him against a wall, you'll have a few seconds to hit him before he dashes at you. Then he'll launch an attack. When he's attacking, it's generally best not to try to him. Just dodge whatever attack he has before you go after him again. If he summons enemies, try to take care of them before you go after him, so you're not stuck dodging enemies and his attacks at the same time. Every seven times he attacks, Dracus will hit him, and that's your chance to hack away at him for a few seconds. Once he brings out the orbitars, the best strategy is to just rush him and hit him as much as you can, just back up when he shoots fireballs from them.

There are three different phase 2 fights though, determined by the choices you made throughout the game. After you beat the first phase, something will happen, and you'll be given a choice between two things, leading to two possible final boss fights. If you need help with them, tell me which one you got and I can give you advice.

The first dungeon with Dracus is a pain to navigate...

Press a switch, bridge, go to the next switch, bridge, next switch, bridge... how many times have I to repeat the same actions? It's easily one of the worst dungeons that I played in ZC in years. Playing with Dracus was cool at first, but this dungeon it's a big joke.

And the water effect... really annoying.

I was beginning to enjoy the game before this, but this dungeon is exasperating me.

I will admit, that dungeon is probably the worst part of the game. I'm really not happy with how it turned out, but I put too much effort into it to scrap it. Once you get through there though, the last three dungeons are much better.

I don't pretend to be harsh with you, so I apologize in advance it something that I say hurts you... Probably, if I make a quest, it would be the worst quest ever. Any quest maker has my respect, but if I see something really bad in a quest, I have to say it.

Oh, don't worry. I'm fine taking criticism. Well, if somebody just comes up and says "Your quest sucks because it does," then it annoys me a bit, but when you say "I don't like this because of this and this," I'm perfectly fine.

Hi Russ! I've reached the second phase. Solarite has taken over Dracus' body, and he's become bat-like. I can hit him with arrows and the sword. Do I just try to outlast him? What strategy do you advise?

Thanks!

OK, second phase, I am being shot by a solar beam and Dracus is asking what to do to stop it, then his body gets taken over.....it has red wings

Okay, so the boss that both of you are on is the "Neutral" ending boss; you can fight him no matter what choices you made. As far as strategy, he has four attacks he cycles between.
  • He'll fly up to the top of the screen and shoot down fireballs. Just dodge them as best you can, maybe shoot a few arrows at him if you get the chance.
  • He'll cause lightning strikes to creates sparks that'll bounce around and hurt you. He can't move while he's creating the lightning, so you can slash at him a lot during this part. Dodging the sparks shouldn't be too difficult.
  • He'll create three crystals, then fire lasers through them. The order the laser goes is from him, to the blue crystal, to the red crystal, to the green crystal, to you. So make sure you're not in between any of the crystals so you're not in the path, and move around so the green crystal can't get a good aim on you.
  • He'll make a ring of fireballs that swerves towards you. This one can be tricky, so just try to slip in between some of the fireballs.

While the sword does more damage, while he's moving around, it might be better to use arrows instead, so you don't have to get close to him. After he drops below half health, his four attacks will get more viscous, so be careful. Strike when you have the chance, but don't get too reckless.

I've got a question for both of you. During the cutscene right before, was Solarite standing one tile in front of Link, or was he on the other side of the room?

Solarite was up higher, toward the top middle of the room. He was underneath the dialog box during the time Dracus was speaking. And then he answered from the "beyond," I guess. That was just before he revealed his new form at, again, the top middle of the room.
