I have theories.

Very complex theories.

On what is happening here.

Stay tuned.

I started using Zelda Classic before I even knew there was a community for it. I never once search for a "Zelda game maker," for that matter, because I stumbled upon it without using a search engine. I searched for "Zelda Classic" to look for a community once I had questions about using the program, though.

I don't see a reason to worry about media attention or search volume. I have interest in things that are much more obscure, and I don't worry about whether they get much attention. As Zelda fans we may have gotten used to it being a popular series in the forefront of people's minds, but really, is there anything we're truly worried about other than whether our hobbies can continue?... As long as Zelda is popular enough to warrant full-sized games, and as long as ZC is popular enough to ensure the continued existence of a community, I'm perfectly fine with it.

ZC may be a game maker tool, but I would not call it a developer tool. It is POSSIBLE to make non-Zelda quests in it, in so much as you can change features and graphics, but it is still BEST at creating Zelda quests. Zelda is the default, and as you stray further from Zelda, it very quickly becomes frustrating to make anything else. Even with scripts.

I think it's time we stopped pretending otherwise. Specialization is nothing to be ashamed of, after all.

I agree completely. It certainly helps Zelda Classic distinguish itself from programs such as Game Maker. If Zelda Classic became much broader, while it certainly would have more capabilities, it would become much less user friendly, considering its foundation, yet at the same time, at a quick glance it would be less distinguishable from other programs that can already do a broader range of things. I see that as being the worst of both worlds.

First of all if you want a GAME maker, use game maker(no pun intended).
And come one, who really founds out about ZELDA classic to use it to make other games then Zelda? I think it should continue being a "Zelda maker".

Also, if ZC got really popular, what if people would start to wonder: "Hey, this stuff is illegal, I'm gonna contact Nintendo!". Or has this already happened before? Does Nintendo know about, and allow ZC to exist, as long as it's not used to make any money? I think I've read that somewhere.

If anyone's interested, I could run an official Zelda Classic (NOT PureZC, I'd rather have one account for all of ZC) Twitter. I use it a lot, and I could keep it updated.

Don't you mean 'unofficial'? Or are you one of the devs now?

If you work together with the mods and devs, I'm sure you could make it happen well enough.

Well, I could work with a dev. I don't see why I would have to though.
Plus, I am a moderator at AGN. icon_shrug.gif

Do you understand what "official" means? It means it's by the people who make the thing. So unless you're a ZC dev or working with one to make this, it's not official by definition.

And I'm a moderator here, but that doesn't give me permission to start making official ZC stuff.

Well, I don't think any of us here have any say about that at all. icon_shrug.gif A true Zelda Classic twitter is something that needs to be decided by the ZC devs and the head AGN staff (DD and c-a-d).

Regardless, the staff here are working on some PZC Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. The accounts are all created, we just need to start populating them. We have some ideas of what to put on them, but if there are any suggested, they'd definitely be welcome! icon_smile.gif

This.

Also mod on AGN is sort of mute point nowadays. icon_smile.gif Not being rude but it's hardly the forum it once was! And even then, mod here or there doesn't give you DEV power in ZC. I also think it should be ran by official DEVs, to prevent fights and other drama. icon_smile.gif

No hatred for you Jared, I would say the same thing to a clone copy of myself. lol

My mistake.
Really it's not even a problem, still maybe a good idea for the ZC twitter. But if anyone other then devs, specially myself try that, it would make a bunch of people annoyed. icon_razz.gif Myself even worse then you! icon_eek.gif

"Who the hell does Franky think he is?" [insert angry messages and other things]

Also I hope you guys can return AGN to some of it's former glory, even if I will never actually be there.

Well, I just started taking into motion an attempt to get Zeldaclassic's popularity out there. I am taking action to get involved within message forums of many of the popular Zelda fan sites and spreading the world of Zeldaclassic within the frame of the rules and conditions those sites offer.

It would be counter productive getting the word out if I appear to be just advertising and have no interest for what these sites stand for. So I will make it my attempt to get involved with many of the communities that cherish the world of Zelda.

I hope this will help.
