Ok Guys so my first idea of making a big download pack is not a way to go and everything about quest files download will not be part of my project. I greatly appreciate your honestly and what i am doing now is a list of all quest based from a csv that link the master gave me in xml format compatible for hyperspin. in this xml files all author name will be associated with the quest name. Maybe i will also have to create a batch file for renaming quest to a their quest name instead of "q263.zip" for example.
So if i am doing it this way is it ok for everyone ?

If someone updates their quest (to fix bugs for example), are these zips updated too?
Also, you say the author name will be associated with the quest name. I think that the description, tips&tricks and the credit list should be viewable either. As someone earlier here said, the description is actually a part of the submission and for some quests it is important to read it.
I think a much better idea would be to bundle the top 20 rated quests only. With those alone, there is already a whole lot of playtime and fun!! ![]()
Anyway, I like what you want to do here, and I am personally okay with anything you do with my quests.

Like i said no zips will be included in my project basicly i am only doing databse for use into hyperspin. But yes doing a 20 best quest could be great but i am not the good guy to choose between your quest as i did not played as much as you guys !
And for the credits, sadly it is not something that could be added to the database as hyperspin has no parameter for credits or even notes.

You can sort the quests in the PureZC database by ratings, so you can see the top (whatever number you want) rated quests according to the reviews. Of course it's subjective and so there are people who don't like quests that are rated highly, or people who love quests that are rated poorly, but it's a start.
The description of the quests should definitely be included because they sometimes contain very important information.

I think Mario Quest should be included. ![]()

I don't get the point in this.... or I just don't see what you are aiming to do....

Basically, he's wanting to make ZC for arcade systems.

This is something people won't be okay with. I know I'm not. I really don't see the point of trying to put all the info into a new database or website; literally every piece of info you need on a quest can be found on the new and improved PureZC database, which also includes up-to-date ratings, updates, and all the features like credits, which hyperspin apparently doesn't support. If you're so eager to bring ZC to the hyperspin community, just show them how to get here and they can look through the database on their own. There's no need for any additional database or list, we've already got all that. Not to mention, it would be a lot more simple/helpful for those new to ZC to be pointed to PureZC itself rather than to individual quest pages so that they're aware of the other resources(tiles, tilesets, music, etc) and tools to help them play and create their own quests. I really just have no idea why you feel the need to take any additional action beyond showing others the database.

Why the hell is everyone getting so rustled by the idea of a combined database? As quest makers, didn't we all make a silent agreement that we don't give a fuck about intellectual property when we opened ZQuest?
Anyways, I don't care if my stuff is hosted in your little combined database, especially because a couple of my quests aren't actually in the PureZC database.

To me, it's honestly about respect. Hundreds of quest makers spent hundreds of hours on their quests. For better or worse, some of these people decide to only house their quests on one place (ZC.com, PureZC, privately, or whatever). Zelda Classic wouldn't be where it is today if it weren't for all of these quest makers, so I don't think it's unreasonable to respect their wishes whether we agree with them or not. I'll agree a big combined database would be convenient, but not by ignoring the people who made that content in the first place.
Also, one big concern here is that since this is a third party maintaining it, what if people need to update their quests? What if there's a huge bug in a quest, then this package contains that bug? It may be hard, if not impossible, to get those bug fixes out there. While I wouldn't personally mind any quests I make being shared on other places without my permission in the spirit of allowing more people to have fun with the content I create, the lack of being able to update things would worry me.

This is probably one of the biggest issues for me. I'm fine with my stuff being on Pure because I'm familiar with it and come here regularly enough to be able to get a feel for what's happening with my projects, knowing full well that its being hosted/maintained by a staff I trust. Its just a little sketchy to have someone you don't know posting your work somewhere else, even with proper credit, if you don't really get a say in it or any ability/option to change it later on. At the end of the day, everything in the DB has been made public by their authors, so I guess everything's fair game; I just think people have the right to know how and where their projects are being distributed, and that the assumption shouldn't simply be that all or most authors would agree to have their work redistributed through a foreign site.

Now that I Understand more, I have to say, I don't really agree to this.
All websites with all the quests on them are available to everyone to find.
If someone only wants Purezc quests then they will stay on purezc and ext....

Ok guys i am not sure that you understand what i am trying to do. Like i already talk i will no redistribute any file from purezc !
What i am doing is a Xml file that will contain a list of all Purezc quest that will be usable into hyperspin !
I ask you guys to look at what it will be like : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=lEgaqXsavYA
The Reason why i am doing this its just because i want to make a Cab friendly interface to launch Zelda Classic Quest.

That's something to think about before you decide what is and what isn't complete.

Guys, guys, guys. I think you're missing the point. Essentially what he is doing is making ZC quests plug-in playable on Arcade Cabinets through the hyperspin API which runs on windows and supports MAME, emulators, etc. Now I don't know the exact technical details of hyperspin and what it needs to know to open up ZC and so forth, but here's what he's basically trying to do:
User installs ZC and quest pack.
User goes to purezc and downloads quest(s).
User installs quests to zc directory.
User plays your ZC quest on a home arcade.
What seems to be the problem chair? ![]()
