Hey Koh, you know of any more Mario pirates like Super Boy? I'm playing around with the idea of remaking the levels from these in a decent engine and seeing how well they turn out. I checked the site mentioned earlier, but I'm curious if there are any more that I'm just not finding. So far, the ones I'm looking at are the Super Boy games and SMB Special (not really a pirate, but has decent levels in a horrible engine). I'm using Lunar Magic to set these up in SMW's engine.

I can't think of any directly...most of the pirates I've seen before Super Boy was something like "Hack an existing game, replace the main character with Mario, sell it." There are some Sonic ones like in the post before yours, but it was mostly crappy knockoffs for Pokemon, Digimon, or their fail attempts at some original titles. The only pirate company that I can think of that actually made GOOD and PLAYABLE unlicensed games was Vast Fame. Their soundtracks were good too. In fact, I was about to record some of the gameplay of one of them on the NES.

I love looking at these games. I just spent a while watching a bunch of Yuriofwind's "Obscure Gaming" series that covers a lot of these. Of course, I have to post this,

And I dunno what Miyamoto was talking about, cause you can totally have a ridable dinosaur in the NES ![]()

These games are so cool... do you know what's cooler? Chinese pirated consoles! Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft just lost the game.

EPIC BUMP!!!!
Let's see, start with the NES's "Super Mario Bros.", add in some 8-bit Atari, flip-screen scrolling, and a bit of piratey physics goodness, and what do you get? You get "BROS" for the Atari...
So, here's my question. Have any of you guys heard of this? If so, does anybody know where I can get a peek at some level maps? I want to know just what went into this, without having to suffer personally if it sucks horribly.

First of all....I guess I do have to say it looks pretty good for...Atari 2600 I'm assuming. What the hell is going on with the timer? Is it suffering from a sugar rush? I might have to grab an emulator and try this myself if I can find it o.o.

If you do, do me a favor and record it. I want to see the level designs, but I've already got a backlog of something like eighty games that I need to go through before I start looking for new ones.

I take it back D=. I don't know what system it's on...maybe the 5200? Even so, I'm just getting results for the 2600 port of the arcade Mario Bros game. I looked at it again and saw "Start, Select" on the title screen....2600 didn't have that many buttons XD. Just a stiff joystick and a bright red button.

I take back my take back! With the help of the owner of that video, I got my hands on a working out of the box Atari 800 emulator, and the rom. Here's my video:
Check the description for the goods (emulator + rom).
