Why does the color of my quest look halved when I play it in windowed mode? Yet fullscreen seems to be correct. icon_wacky.gif

Hi Saffith,

I used the modified zquest-w.exe you put up. Used it in full screen for about 4 to 5 hours and it didn't crash or get any warnings. There is a plus I don't have the shadow on the bottom and right side of the tiles when you pick them to place them. It was awkward for me to place the tiles. It looked like it was going to place them in the wrong spot. Now it is lined up where you want to place it. I hope that makes sense. icon_smile.gif

EDIT: This is really weird I just open zquest with the modified .exe. When I pick a tile to use I just have my cursor no image now I can see it up on the top in the right corner. Now it is like using RC1 which is all right. icon_biggrin.gif

What is the typical FPS for ZC? For some reason, every time I try to play a quest in RC3, I'm getting 60 FPS with the frame limit turned on. Normally I get maybe 30-40 as an estimate (I've never actually ran it with the FPS showing). This just seems too quick, now. I mean, I've seen some of SpacemanDan's ZC Let's Plays, and I can tell how I used to have it was normal speed. I'm getting blown away now because I'm not getting enough reaction time to avoid even simple shots.

Would it be possible to add a feature to the launcher or something on what FPS to lock ZC at? 60 FPS sounds good for console games, but on ZC things are moving far too fast.

On the bright side, WolfStyle DX is working again and I managed to finish Level 6 last night. Converting the save file to RC3 worked wonderfully. You might want to consider asking people playing older version quests on RC3 anyways to confirm whether or not the quest plays through correctly start to finish, and you could put something in the database like "Confirmed 2.5 compatible" or something. It might be convenient for people looking for something new to play.

I don't think you can manually decrease it past 60. You can, however, put your computer on power saving mode and open some more apps to cause lag.

Just got a crash when trying to open an MP3 in Zquest. I've been using this MP3 for over A year now in other versions without getting a crash. Sorta sucks, I lost a good amount of work (though my fault for not saving more frequently)

It happens every time I open this MP3, yet other MP3's don't crash it.

Just thought I'd confirm that the speed problem I'm having is only occuring in RC3. I tried playing a game on RC2, and it played at the correct speed. Maybe the FPS cap isn't working correctly or something?

Just now thought to check FPS on RC2. I'm consistantly getting 30 FPS, which is a pretty good, playable speed. RC3 is giving me 60 no matter what I do. I simply cannot play anything on this version. Is there a reason for this?

Yes, there's a reason. ZC has always been meant to run at 60 FPS. That's how it's always run on my computer and everybody else's I've seen, anyway. It's more likely than not a bug fix.

Crap... And I thought I was fairly good at these games. I'm getting torn apart by freaking Octoroks now... Can I still request a way to adjust the speed cap in the next update?

I have this room with a few spikes, and a fire shooting statue.
When you touch the fire statue from the front, it hurts you. There are no damage combos layered above it. It's not even a damage combo, nor is there an FFC on the screen that damages link. The spikes are not right next to the statue either. Odd.

Edit: Anyway we can get water to work on layers? I have a neat cycling thing that requires walkable / drownable water that has to be used on layers.

So one problem I've encountered in my quest is that fairies seem to behave strangely when I create them with scripts. If I create a fairy in a wall, it gets stuck as if it were an enemy (last I checked fairies were supposed to move freely through walls). If it spawns on a conveyor belt, it gets moved by the conveyor belt as if it's an item. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I don't recall encountering these problems in other versions...

Edit: It seems RC3 also has a nasty mouse offset...any idea why this is?

where the file-options-what not is. why is it so small? and the screen and next screen and misalines having a bleed to the corners is intersting.

Nasty as in Link->InputMouseY is like 40 higher than it should be. Dunno if it's just me, just the mac version, or universal...
