After opening the winter_example_bs1stBetaVer2.qst, change the cset to 4 and the combos will constantly change csets on the combo page.

There's nothing set that I can see for them to change or animate in any way, they shouldn't be doing anything, but they are.

So, what's going on with this? Is there a feature doing this or some sort of bug in ZC?
You discovered palette cycling. icon_razz.gif It's an old technique to imitate animation (mostly used in ZC for water) before actual animation existed. It's a pretty standard form of animation in early games as you can see here.

Well, the devs had said that they had plans of making a 2.51 build or something with any fixes that may come up after 2.50's release. I'm not sure exactly when they plan on doing that, though. icon_shrug.gif

I am getting that exact same bug and yet, I'm using windows XP...

EDIT: Infact, clicking I or trying to go into anything item related is now crashing zquest for me...

I get an error message when I try to open a .qst file by double-clicking it (Mac OS).
I can still open it by dragging the file onto the ZQuest icon, or by using ZQuest's File > Open

Is ZQuest set as the default application? If that isn't the problem, blame Allegro. Blaming Allegro just seems to be the default option. icon_razz.gif

I have found a backward compatibility issue with 2.5.

Apparently the triggers are now that were in older versions are defaulted to step->temp-secrets and this causes issues with coming from the side higher than the bottom of the combo.
It really should be defaulted to step->sensitive(tep)secrets or step->sensitive(perm)-secrets

I'm having issues using ZQuest on my laptop. The maximum resolution for video output is 1024x600, which causes ZQuest to load and immediately quit. The ZQ icon appears in the system tray, an hourglass indicator shows it as loading, and then it stops, the ZQ icon vanishes fron the tray, and nothing further happens.

I believe that it used to run either in a window or in full-screen mode at this resolution, but I don't know where I can change this without actually running the programme. I'm pretty sure that ZQ will run at 800x600, or at least that it uses that amount of screen real-estate; how can I either execute it or change the screen mode in order to execute it?

I changed ag.cfg to fullscreen = 0; this does tell Zwlda-w.exe to run in a window (and this works), however, ZC still refuses to load.

Ah, yeah. I remember having that issue on my netbook. If you use z-launch, you can do either one of two things. You can either use large/modern mode in full screen, or the classic mode with scaling of 2x.

Thank you! Both options using ZLaunch do work as you say. I always launched ZQ directly, so I didn't think to try ZLaunch at all.

I'm glad Zelda Classic 2.5 finally got released. It works very well on my laptop, good job on getting the bugs fixed. icon_smile.gif

Are there any plans on coding Zelda Classic from scratch so it doesn't rely heavily on the allegro library?

There were plans... the problem is we have a shortage of ZC devs right now. Saffith practically carried 2.5 to it's final release on his own shoulders for the last year, with occasional help from Gleeok and possibly _L_. We can't rely on a group of 1-3 people to recode the entire game. Either we're going to need new devs, or 2.5's gonna be it.

As pointed out elsewhere, the Bow & Arrow class seems to be broken. I'm not even sure how it is *supposed* to differ from the Bows item class and Arrows item class; it seems to work as the Arrow class, but doesn't do anything. Shouldn't this have an arrow damage and an arrow speed setting and function as one item?

Yup it's set as the default application.
Interestingly, it works when I right click the icon and go to "Open With"

Oh well.

EDIT: Well, I deleted all the other versions of ZQuest I had on my computer, and the problem went away...

well i found a problem that really has noot happened till recently but when I create a enemy say a boss I can play it and it comes to life but later after testing again (I test it alot just to make sure this does not happen) it disappears this as happened going on now 3 to 4 times and it is irritating any suggestions.

I was playing the quest Search For Elise recently, but I came upon a compatibility issue that caused skulls and crossbones to form in my eyes. I am talking about the dreaded hookshot-over-combo glitch. I will not be able to complete the quest unless either the quest is updated or 2.5 is given better backwards compatibility there.

In level 6 of that quest, there is a room where you have to get very close to the edge of a pit in order to hookshot across, but that pit behaves like a mass of sensitive warps in 2.5.

These compatibility issues are likely to be a problem in many of the older quests, and forcing people to use older versions to play them is not good conduct.

Hmm, would it be too late to suggest a Quest Rule: No Screen Scrolling while Link is in the Air? As much as I like the feather, I don't really like going from screen to screen midair.

I believe there's a script for this, but yeah. I'm not really good with scripts.

As another bug, if you have walkable water and raft flags on it. If you jump over the water via feather and go to another screen that has Raft Flags, it'll trigger the Raft on the next screen whether you have it or not.

(I believe it also triggers the raft if you walk close enough to where the flags are set and go to another screen as well)



EDIT: Found another bug. The Pound combo type with the Combo Flag #10 (Armos/Chest -> Item) doesn't work to trigger the room's special item to appear. ZCWiki says it should, but it doesn't. This would be nice to have too in case I go with a swordless quest in the future..
