2.5 brought back Schwa. It is truly the noblest Zelda Classic among us.

Ugh, yet the most troublesome for me.

Ever since I downloaded the stable version of 2.5, ZC and ZQ won't open. I see it open momentarily on my taskbar, but then immediately close, almost like it's being forced to close. I also tried opening ZC and ZQ with z-launch (which I never use), but that doesn't work either. I would like to get back to working on my quests, but I can't work if I can't get the program to even open. icon_unsettled.gif

Does anyone find it funny that the "Stable Release" Is not very stable at all... Hell I think we'ed be better off using RC4 or RC5.
At least those builds were stable. icon_neutral.gif

Eh, it's stable, and less buggy than the RCs. That said, I really think there should have been an RC6; there's no excuse for some of the bugs floating around right now. But oh well.

Agreed, there should'v been a RC6. But I guess the devs wanted to get this thing released as fast as they could.

The push block bug is the most harmless of the major bugs so far if you ask me. It only breaks quests in very specific scenarios. I say we should just cut our losses instead of tampering with it again and getting something worse. Remember the ladder flippers? THAT is the kind of thing that would warrant an RC6. Until something that major is found I think 2.5 is fine as is.

The push block bug is the only big one to my knowledge in the current release of 2.5. There's also apparently a save bug that Russ reported but that can be avoided by being patient.

What's the allegro log say?

I'm not sure what allegro log is supposed to say, but all the text is stuff like this:

CODE

Allocating combo buffer (5.98k/643.23k)... OK
Allocating string buffer (9.75M/10.38M)... OK
Allocating door combo buffer (159.50k/10.53M)... OK
Allocating dmap buffer (236.00k/10.76M)... OK

Allocating tile buffer (511.88k/21.04M)... OK
Allocating trash buffer (97.66k/21.13M)... OK
Allocating item buffer (17.00k/21.15M)... OK
Allocating weapon buffer (2.00k/21.15M)... OK

Allegro log doesn't say there is a problem of any kind.

Maybe you could try downloading a new copy of ZC into a new folder with new configuration? If that works, you can just open your quest in the new copy.

My first thought was that the folder ZC was in needed to be named "Zelda Classic". A few days ago I tried renaming my folder, and I was able to get ZC open once, but not anymore, it still continues to close immediately. This reminded me that ConstantGuard thought ZC and ZQ were malicious items when I first downloaded them a while back. Do you think that may have anything to do with this, since ConstantGuard could force-close them?

That actually makes sense (edit: the antivirus, not the folder name). Perhaps you could temporarily disable your antivirus, download again, and try again?

The folder name shouldn't matter. It never has for me.

My antivirus does react when I fire up ZC, but it does allow me to ignore the warning. I don't know why antiviruses react to it.

Friends, today I found a bug when I was testing a screen with 2 stairs (tile warps A and B) and 1 front output (side warp).
Well, after entering and exiting some times from the same screen using the stair A, suddenly the external stair stopped working.
But the same test done with the stair B didn't show any problem. The solution was to eliminate one of these stairs and create another path, but from the outside of the screen.

Has anyone else seen this bug before?

I'm having a bug when trying to use the item placer to place an item on screen...I'm not sure if other people are having this bug or if i'm just having it due to me using ZC 2.5 most recent release on a Windows 8 system. Is anyone else having this problem?
