Hi Everyone,

I made a completed quest pack of all http://armageddongames.net and i would like to add all games from Purezc too. Mygoal is to make a complete database of all completed quest and implement them into Hyperspin and share it between Purezc, armageddongames and Hyperspin community. but before doin anything i am asking if i could group all quest from your site and maybe host it there or else where. But i am not a leecher all i want is to make people know about zelda classic for the hyperspin community and at the same time give the opportunity for you guys to have a beautiful, wellnamed, well organised database of all completed quest ever created in one big dowmnload file.

But right now before going any further i am waiting for your answers.

So guys what do you think ?

I have submitted my quests to the PureZC database, and I am still unhappy with how they were copied from PureZC and imported into the AGN database, and do not approve of it, nor do I approve of the redistribution of my quests on this hyperspin community without having them come here to PureZC to download my quests. I'm sure many of the other quest authors here would agree with me. I have never heard of this hyperspin community, and really, if you want to make ZC known to the community, ... all you need to do is point your users to the respective locations.

Honestly, I know you mean well, but I don't care for packaging and rehosting quests without the consent of the quest makers.

It's my belief that quests are under the ownership of the maker of the quest.  Each person spent hundreds of hours on their quests, so I believe each quest maker should have the right to say whether or not they want their quests to be rehosted somewhere else.  This is why PureZC removes quests when people request it.  Does it suck that the community doesn't get to play these quests?  Yes, of course it does.  But I think this is just us respecting the quest makers.

That being said, the quests are available publicly, so I guess I can't stop you.

I don't think this is a great idea either for all of the above reasons and more. I don't want to sound like a downer or some kind of selfish person who doesn't want anyone to have fun (where's that NO FUN image when you need it?) but especially because quest authors may not want their work redistributed, ... yeah. I would be against this.

What I would be more in favor of is a "Best of ZC" pack consisting of basically the quests that have stood out over the years or otherwise accrued lots of favorable reviews. It would probably make for a more worthwhile download anyway, and the developers of said quests may be more easily contacted.

Ok let put aside the "non sharing where i dont want to" argument. I just think that all the wonderful work that you guys have done is just incredible. I mean this is one of the thing that should be spread all over this planet and i would love to see people from hyperspin to become a zelda classic maker and you guys become a hyperspin user too !

My goal is to make everyone happy so this mean if you guys thinks that i should not share quest that you shared already, Even tho i do not agree with you i will respect this ! But then i still want to make this project to happen, so instead of sharing quest elsewhere, is it possible to share this big database right here on purezc.net ?

Like I said, I respect the idea, and I like the idea behind it.  If I had a completed quest, I'd be more than happy to have you share it elsewhere.  It's just that it's not my right to decide for other people what can be done with their quests.  It's no one's right other than the quest makers - at least in my eyes.  So just know that it's not because I think it's a bad idea or anything like that.

If you want to link to PureZC, then that's perfectly fine. :) In fact, if you want, I can maybe try to work up a script to create a spreadsheet with all of the quests on PureZC and a link to their respective pages on PureZC.  This way if you still want to organize these, you have all the info you need, and when people make updates to quests, no matter when people go to the pages from Hyperspin, they'll be grabbing the latest versions.  Hopefully this will seem like a good compromise? :)

Why not just give them a link to the PZC and AGN databases? That's a lot less work for everybody, not to mention one big download with all quests would be on BIG download.

It's no big deal for me.  Here's the spreadsheet.  It should work in Microsoft Excel, Open Office, and Google Docs (if you convert it).  It has the quest title, creators, rating, and the url to the quest page on PZC (this page).  Hope that helps. :)

Well, even with this spreadsheet, I still would request that you do not include my quests in any archive and/or torrent and just provide links to the database page here on PureZC for them, primarily so people do get the latest version, ... and I don't have to worry about updating multiple sites.

Unless I misspoke or misunderstood, this was the agreement, Sephiroth.  I just made the spreadsheet so tanookimonk didn't have to create the list himself, and that's why the links go to the quest page on the database.

It only depends on what he is going to do with the spreadsheet, because as far as I know, his intent is to package it all together into one big archive.

Thank you a lot LinktheMaster !!!

This is just amazing ! But Sephiroth to let you know what i think i will do with this list is i will modify the file to include direct download links. and then i will make a complete list compatible with hyperspin and then, i will have to add author credits to all games within this database ! That way we could start making artwork and theme for this

Its going to be a lot of work but the result will be awesome !

If you guys want to know what hyperspin is and what the result will be like check this video :

By direct links, I hope you're referring to the quest info page.  As in, this page.  By giving direct download links, you're still not really adhering to what the quest creators intended.  You're just operating through a loophole.  Remember that there's a lot more to a submission.  Sometimes there's stuff in the description that people will need to know that may be updated with changelog information.  Sometimes people may have important info in comments, and the quest help section is intended for people to be able to ask and answer questions.

Again, I have to repeat, the people who uploaded quests uploaded them to PureZC.  For whatever reason, some people chose when they uploaded their quests to only be on PureZC.  Some people in the past have chosen to host their quests only on ZC.com.  This was the decision of the quest maker.  You offering direct links to the download is violating those original intentions.  After all, direct downloads is basically the same as hosting the quests yourselves as it's entirely bypassing PureZC's site itself.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my previous posts.
