Story
After Ganon was destroyed, Impa told Link a sleeping spell was cast on princess Zelda. She will only awake with the power of No.3 triforce sealed in a palace in Hyrule. To break the seal, crystals must be placed in statues in 6 well guarded palaces. Link set out on his most adventuresome quest yet...

Description
This third quest of mine will be a classic top-down perspective remake of Zelda II. Which is probably one of my favorite platformers. All of the original items, spells, and enemies will be included. And the overworld will be very similar to the one from the original game. The dungeons however although inspired by the classic dungeons will be redesigned with new mechanics. I also plan to have the fetch quest system where you had to retrieve something in order to enter someone's house and get the spell, but will be ditching the classic experience system. "It Sucks" That's pretty much it. I'm trying to go for an authentic remake in the classic ZC style. I plan on working on this game in stages and stage one is creating resources and scripts. Stage 2 will be designing the dungeons and overworld, Stage 3 will be putting it all together, and Stage 4 will be a final test run.Now feel

Stage 1 Progress
Graphics
Zilch, since I'm trashing the graphics I made. I plan on going with the 2.5 classic tileset with several additions/modifications including totally new enemies and item data.

Audio
Zilch, but I've found a decent Zelda2 NSF which I might use. I plan on using the original music but will see. I need to find the original sound effects for Zelda 2, so if you know where to find them please share.

Scripts
Most of my progress started this weekend and I've already finished the spell system and all the custom item scripts are completed except for a few minor details. If you guys want I'll be happy to share my Z file.

Screenshots
None yet, but look forward to seeing some later this month!

Okay now feel free to give me lots of comments or suggestions! Remember though, I'm trying to make an authentic remake here!

Dude, this is amazing! Will you be including that when you get a new Heart or Magi Upgrade, you get a whole little new box for it? Will you have the box things too, or the original hearts and meters?

Yes, I plan on using the original meters. But link has 16 max heart containers instead of 8. It would be too hard otherwise.

This sounds interesting enough.will it be platform style like the original or built more like the first (and majority) of zelda games?

Alter the story, BB. Don't use the one from the opening scroll of the game: it's inaccurate. Use the manual instead.

Additionally, http://zeldaclassic....wquest.php?q=80

Yeah the story might be in accurate but it's the one from the game. I might change it. We'll see.

Hmm...I'll have to recheck the story thing you mentioned....Also that quest you posted wasn't very good if I remember correctly. Also this should help you a bit: http://www.zeldawiki...venture_of_Link

Actually what's helping me the most is playing the game over and over again. Helps me get my Zelda 2 blood going if you know what I mean. icon_wink.gif

Will this game feature the Roc's Feather?

And personally, I think you should add a super secret sidescrolling dungeon, just as a high five to the original.
Like, maybe it could be hidden somewhere in the confusing Death Mountain after getting a certain item? I love sidescrolling in ZC icon_smile.gif

Yes I plan to incorporate a custom item "the jump spell". Which functions as a roc's feather. Cast it once to activate it use it again to jump all you want. The spell last till you die or change screens.

I actually like the idea of adding a bonus dungeon hidden deep in death mountain. You mind if I snag that idea?

Yeah all the original items and spells from the game are there in some shape or form. Still tweaking them but they're functional. As for putting you in the credits. Sure, By the way, how are you with spriting tiles specifically ones that fit in with the classic tileset.

Awesome! Sending you a pm right away.

EDIT: If it's alright with you, I'm just going to have you check out my request thread for zelda 2 enemies. We'll start there.

I'm actually hoping you can pull this off. BTW did you get the two zip files containing sounds from both our version and the Famicon version of the game in your sound thread? Also if you want I could probably find 8-bit versions of other zelda songs if you wanted to add more variety to the music used. Although they would be in mp3 form (I hate midis anyway)
