Here's some more artwork to go into the manual.

Corner.jpg

Probably use this as an illustration in a section describing how you explore the Asteroid.

EDIT: Yes, in these sketches the Guardian is missing her little side vents.  I'll fix that before puttin em in the manual, if I use the pictures at all.

Iron.jpg

Cropped Iron's legs so it looks less like he's trying to cure his constipation.

Power_Up.jpg

Something to use in the item section, probably to help space the Missile stuff so they all fall on the same page.

Schlefen.jpg

General Schlefen. Incidentally, dear readers, none of the main character's names were chosen at random. Shlefen is a reference to Count Alfred von Schlieffen, the German general who came up with the famous plan that was supposed to have ended World War One immediately. When events on the ground required recalculation, however, the careful mechanics of the plan ground to a halt.

Victor Zhvago is a reference to Doctor Zhivago, a well-intentioned doctor who succumbed repeatedly to temptations involving the opposite sex among a backdrop of war that stripped all of his happiness from him, and left behind children of three mothers who all met uncertain and unpleasant fates.

Iron's origin is described in the game. It's the name he chose for himself, upon noticing this was the most common element among his physical form.

Dr. Mo? That one I'll leave for you to figure out!

Victor.jpg

A shot of Victor to probably use on a page discussing how you have to use the terminals. Please note, he does not have blue hair. He's bald. What you see in-game is the large piece of random technology strapped (attached?) to his noggin.

Pretty fantastic stuff, man! Original work never really gets the appreciation it deserves. And the amount of work you're putting into this trying to make it feel like a retro Adventure game really shows how much dedication you have to this project.

Thank you.  I'm not really sure what you're asking me, but thanks.

(I mean no offense, but is English a second language for ya?  Are you an import from somewhere else?)

Nah, I get plenty of appreciation for what it is.  Honestly, I haven't improved my art style or skill since high school.  It's good enough to get by.

As for "retro?"  That's kind of a popular thing for indie devs to do nowadays. (Usually it means they copied the art style of cave story.  Seriously, look at Fez, A.N.N.E., etc)  Me?  I'm doing it in this style because it's easy and because I enjoy the product.  Heck, I do my spriting in MS Paint for pete's sake.

I'm just trying to make the kind of game that I would want  to play.  I am very grateful for my hard working beta testers who try to break the game so I can spend all my time fixing it instead of testing myself.  If you like what you see, sign up and start posting your comments and concerns in the bug thread!

Your artwork is really cool! Do you work as a designer, by chance?

@SkyLizardGirl: that is very concerning. Me hopes the scientists leaves you alones.

No, I don't do design or art for a living.  Heck, like I said, I haven't worked on sharpening my skills since high school.  If you want to be in comic or fantasy artwork nowadays, the competition is amazingly harsh.  Look at Deviant Art - the number of people who can make astounding, professional-quality pop art like this has gone way up from when I was a kid.
