This is not a request to make graphics, but asking for help identifying existing games/quests that have these graphics.

I want to make a custom boss that is a giant snake (and by "giant" I mean 2x2 tiles or larger) and I need graphics. I'm looking for inspiration from existing games so I can make the graphics needed to fit my quest. The only thing I could think of was the snake heads from the Snake Man level from Megaman (3, I think), but I don't want it to look that robotic; I want it more realistic than that.

Do you know any games out there (anywhere from being as fancy as SNES or as simple as GB) that used a giant snake for an enemy? Preferably a cobra (with the fan-like things on the sides of its head), but I'll take any suggestions at this point.

Hmm... I can't think of any off the top of my head. I'd assume some 16 bit Final Fantasy game must have a snake enemy.

There was a snake in Secret of Mana, but it was segmented like a Moldorm.

I'm not sure where this one comes from, but it looks sweet.

Mickeys Magical Quest had a snake boss... probably want one without a dog's face on it.
Super Mario RPG had a snake boss... but you probably want one without angled perspective.
Mother1, 2, 3 had snake enemies... but you probably want one that's animated.
I assume Harry Potter CoS probably had basilisk sprites but I have no idea what they look like or what perspective they're in, never played the game.

You'd think there would be more snake sprItes considering they're, along with spiders(which also have surprisingly low amounts of available sprites), one of the more generally agreed upon "scary" animals.

Google images gives a few halfway decent results. I'm on my phone and can't figure out links so get ready to copy paste.

Thanks, guys! :)  These have greatly helped inspire me. It helps greatly to know what I'm looking for & where.

@Brian: Yeah, but I think the FF games mostly had Lamia, half-woman half-snake, enemies; they might have other snake enemies, too, but that's the only kind I remember. The FF games sure do have other epic enemies, though!

@Fausch: I didn't find that snake, but what I did find, when searching for "cobra" on Spriter's Resource, was a smaller cobra enemy from a DS game called "Children of Mana". It fits 2x2 tiles, but most of the sprites are 24 pixels tall (whereas 2x2 tiles are 32x32 pixels). Still, it's something I can work with!

And I don't what that game is you have pictured, but that looks wicked! :) Looks like a totally rad game to play! I'm guessing it's probably an arcade game, by the looks of it; but, then again, I guess there are console games that also say "Push button" for player 2 to join.

@Theryan: I took a look at those games (except for Mother 2 & 3; out of the three, I only looked at Mother 1) on Spriter's Resource & the web, and saw the snakes you were talking about. I hadn't seen the Harry Potter game before either, but they had Basilisk sprites!

I've been reminded of the usefulness of having a segmented body for a big enemy like this. I haven't fully decided how I'm going to proceed (meaning which size I'll choose), but these have definitely lead me in the right direction. Thanks, guys! :D

BTW, in case anyone else is looking for something like this, I also found Snake Jafar from the SNES Aladdin game and the snake enemies from Chrono Trigger, Gnawer & Gnasher. Of course, Aladdin's a side-scroller game so those sprites are not as useful in this regards.  Regarding Gnawer & Gnasher, for some reason Spriter's Resource didn't have the sprites for them facing left & right; only up & down. (I've played Chrono Trigger before and I know they can move in all four directions. Oh well.)

Not advertising though, but how about Russ's Light of Heavens DX and The Darkness Within? I saw into his quest and I have seen a few Snake tiles he used as a boss.
