Lets assume a red/blue block was placed in a room with a balcony, when creating this room, I make two identical screens. One where Link is on the main floor, another where Link is on the balcony.
The switch would be on the background layer. But of course there is a workaround for that, than lets assume the blue/red block is instead on the balcony overhead, that would make the block on an overhead layer.
Is it possible to make the blocks change even though they are on another layer?

It depends on how you are doing the Red/Blue blocks.

If you're using this script, probably not right out of the box. I think Screen->ComboD (what the script uses to check which combos to change) only works on layer 0. It might be possible to modify the script to also check layers though, but I'm not really familiar with those functions.

I may (if possible) need that script sometime. There ain't no rush for it, but I will eventually need it before the quest is complete. I'd say by the time my quest is completed somebody probably would make it official anyways.
Speaking of which, why ain't the red/blue switches a confirmed working script in the database? It works fine for me. Other than the whole layering issue.
