Item Override allows only one specific item to be displayed in that spot. Like as an example if you set it to the Fire Boomerang and picked up the Magic Boomerang, the Magic Boomerang wouldn't appear there due to the override.
Item override is useful if you want to have multiple items of the same class selectable. Like multiple feathers, etc.....

Wait, you can do that without scripting custom item classes all over the place? Oh, my life just got so much easier.
EDIT: Just to make absolutely certain that I'm understanding this correctly, cuz it seems too good to be true: If I have scripts for fire, ice and wind rods, I can attach them all to the "wands" item class, but still give them all their own slots and use them all as separate items?
Also, assuming the above is correct, is there any way to stop the magic from the regular wand from bursting into flames when you have the book?

I'd expect they'd still need to be separate scripted items. The scripts usually affect the magic link weapon itself, so since all wands would create magic, they'd clash. And yeah, they'd all burst into flame, because that's also a property of the magic link weapon. I find item override most useful for creating multiple items that differ in appearance, what level of triggers they hit, and other things that can be easily changed in the item editor. There may be some scripted ways around these limitations, though.

Ah, dammit. Back to trying to figure out how to attach the Wand scripts to custom items, then... Damn, this is annoying.

If they're scripted it'll depend how they're scripted anyway. It's probably not too hard to script a Wand that doesn't burst into flames if you have the book. I'm not a scripter though so you'd have to figure that out elsewhere. Usually with scripted items you wanna use a different class than what ZC uses for standard items anyway.

I know, but all of the scripts I've seen for fire and ice rods (the ones in the database, here, anyways) all say to attach it to a wand or sword item in the setup section, which means a lot of extra work if I'm going to attach them to custom item classes, which is something I don't know how I'm supposed to do, in the first place. But, it's not that big a deal, I figured I was going to have to deal with this, anyways, just got kinda hopeful when I saw the item override option.
