I'd like to add some screens where you need to fight waves of enemies before moving on. The way I'm currently thinking of doing it is to select the Enemies->Secret screen flag, and give all the walkable tiles a direct warp secret combo to an identical screen. the identical screen could be setup the same way to create another wave.
is there a better way? scripting maybe?

Rather than set all the floor combos to direct warps, just use an auto warp combo. The second an auto warp appears on the screen, the screen's side warp is activated. So you just need to put flag 16 down on a single tile, set that to be an auto warp, and check the screen flag "Auto warps are direct." It's much easier to set up and much less likely to break/do weird stuff than the direct warp floor method.
