Ok, here's what I came up with so far. Still have some shading to do. (The sword may be replaced). Spent a good 10 hours to finish it.

Not bad Shane! I really love how it looks so far. You have a knack for subscreen designing and recoloring! The only other recommendation I would tell you is, see the 1/2 icon besides the magic meter on your passive subscreen? Why don't you make the background color be the same as the greyish one, that way the background color would only be darker on the magic meter. If you don't understand what I mean, let me know and I'll see if I can post a shot as an example.

Other than that, it's more than perfect!

Does anybody know the appropriate dimensions for subscreens in the tileset?

The passive subscreen is 64px tall and 256px wide. The active subscreen is 176x256.
