I'm gonna pull a Moosh. I know a lot of quest players don't ever look outside this forum, so I figured I'd announce that I have a new quest, The Darkness Within, which can be downloaded here. So we have an official help topic now. Yay. If you need help, or just want to talk to other people about the quest, here you go.

Hi!

Your quest is really hard. The first boss is pretty intense but possible without using the bottle. I got to the point where there is a castle, in the sand at the top of a mountain after the "assasin" boss. Where there is prehistoric monsters. The jumping sequence just killed it for me. I've stopped playing it, even deleted my file. It was way too frustrating for me. Kept falling and falling and falling but never got to the upper screen. I had big hope for this quest. I played Light of the Heaven DX to the end. It was hard but never this much. Can't imagine how harder the rest can be.

Ugh... I just updated the file (literally about two minutes ago) to fix the jumping sequence and make it easier. You could have just updated the file and you would have been good. But oh well. Thanks for giving the game a shot.

I was enjoying this quest till I got to the first boss, but I quit there. It took me several tries to even figure out what to do, and I don't like really hard bosses icon_shrug.gif. This quest looks nice, and seems well designed, but I can tell it is going to be one of those really hard quests, especially in the boss category. I would also recommend allowing the player to start closer to the boss instead of re-spawning at the entrance to the island. Forcing players to tread through the same stuff again and again punishes them for failure instead of encouraging them to try again :/

I'm not saying it's a 'bag game', it's just harder than something I'd typically want to play is all.

EDIT: I'm giving this another shot, cause I've read a little bit about this in the main thread, and it sounds really good. I managed to beat the first boss. I was frustrated cause I didn't know what to do at all in the final form. I kept trying to jump to the item, but to no avail. I randomly figured ot how to hurt it while using all my weapons on screen, and happened to hit it with an arrow.

I also realized this wasn't even the right thread to make this post. This is the help thread >.> Man, I can't wait for the new site to go live so all these quest topics can be contained in one main page icon_razz.gif

Sorry Russ but even with your updated file I can't get past the boss. Take away the jumping area and the top area of the tree would be better. After all it is the first boss of the quest.

You don't need to jump to metal, you have to attack it with arrows instead!

I think she's talking about the Donkey Kong-like jumping section. But it was unclear to me at first that I couldn't jump to the crystal, since there appeared to be a platform over there.

Guys- The boss isn't THAT hard. icon_shrug.gif He gave you a potion that could be used four times- that's equivalent to 15 hearts. You should have Roc's Feather equipped pretty much the whole time to jump the fire balls and stuff. Is that what your doing?

By the way- 2.5 is STUPID. I ran into that bug of shutting of the program too quickly- all my files were deleted. icon_sweat.gif This bug seriously can't just be ignored. I was pushed for time and had to save and close the program quickly. The last thing that entered my mind was that my files would get deleted. But they did. icon_frown.gif

Good game Russ! icon_smile.gif I'll most likely redownload and replay.

It's great that we have some potions but it's impossible strike to use Roc's Feather and a potion at the same time.

Actually i think its very possible. I always press start in situations like that. It pauses the game and I have enough time to choose whatever item I want. icon_wink.gif

Ok, I'm in the final dungeon and it is very big and complex. I've seen about 3-4 locked keyblocks throughout the dungeon and I had only one key at the moment. Hard decision, about where I use my key. Then I opened a block and theres a dead end for me. I hope I can beat this dungeon :O
Are there multiple boss keys in there?

@Strike: sorry man, this is not cool. I'm glad this never happened to me before, but I hope the developers will fix this soon icon_biggrin.gif

On second thought, i'll have to delay that stream... today's a really bad day for streaming it seems. My internet's never acted like this before, and it's going full retard. icon_neutral.gif Bleh. whatever.

Maybe later tonight it'll be better. Or tomorrow at least.

Yes, there are multiple boss keys, one for Link, one for Dracus. The final dungeon's somewhat complex, but it follows a relatively simple pattern. Three floors, a Link and Dracus area on each, and each area has a switch that lowers the obstacles on the other character's area of that floor. Just think of where you need to go, and what blocks need to be lowered to progress. And remember: Link and Dracus have different key counters, so just because you don't have any keys to use on Dracus's part of the dungeon doesn't mean Link can't still unlock some doors, and vice versa.

Well dang, sorry to hear that. But at the very least, I might be able to catch the stream now.

About the first boss: I honestly didn't think it was that bad. You can go in with 4 hearts, and with 4 potions, you essentially have 20 HP to take him down. But, if it's honestly too hard, I'll be willing to send personalized versions of the quest to nerf the boss and/or hand out cheat codes if people need me to.

I haven't played the new version yet, but if it's nerfed from the expo demo version, then I'm also surprised at how much trouble people are having with it. I should probably pick it up soon so I know what people are talking about, maybe after I finish Hero's Memory and a couple more of the bad quests in my LP series.
