RIP. If you get a new one, besides keeping it where the air can easily move out of, I suggest a few tools:
Spybot (Always was useful.)
CCleaner (Fixes your registry errors and gets rid of annoying temp files.)
Ultradefrag (Always defrags smoothly for me.)
Avast (I've used this for Antivirus for years now. Never let me down.)
That's the confusing thing. I've got the hard drive plugged into another laptop that I have and Windows is running flawlessly. I don't think the OS is causing any of this. I'm looking at it right now and backing up my files to an external hard drive just to be safe.
