Evening. I wanted to see if I could record a computer game since my last attempt at a Let's Play. The resulting video is available here:

YouTube Zelda Classic Recording Test

I think the audio and video are synced up decently. The concern is how smooth the video looks during playback. It actually holds up during the recording itself (unlike when I tried with a newer windows computer). However, I think it is a little jerky on the video itself. I could use some opinions and advice on how to improve this.

Some statistics:
  • Using Mac OS X Mountain Lion
  • Audacity for recording my microphone
  • iShowU HD for recording the game video and audio
  • iMovie to combine the two
  • Tried to record 29.97 frames per second if I remember this test right

Well, it's not too bad. I've definitely seen much worse, both in the ZC world and on regular YouTube videos. icon_razz.gif

I guess the main thing I have to ask is how does it look after iShowU finishes recording? Does it look okay? Or is the choppiness in video after you combine the two?

Unfortunately, though, I have no experience with recording stuff on Macs, so I can't help out too much. icon_shrug.gif

Also, this should go in General Computer Discussion. Moving it over now.

A part of me thinks the choppiness is in the video even before I put the microphone audio with it. It is funny when I say it feels smoother in the video, because gameplay certainly was. I wonder if I have to find a way to make iMovie keep it at 30 frames per second or something.
