Now that I have more experience, I'm going to give this project another try.
I'll be using Zelda Classic / ZQuest Editor Version 2.50 RC3.

Any chance you might add menus later. Because I love your passive MC Subscreen and was wondering if you plan on making an active one too. icon_smile.gif

I was working on a MC Tileset, I had all the default palettes for overworld done, all the overworld tiles. Almost all misc sprites and enemies, and 2 dungeon sets with palettes as well.
I think i had everything needed to make a quest except for the lack of different dungeon sets.

I might release it someday but it needs cleanup first.

Hybrids are good. 'Specially the Toyota kind. icon_smile.gif

Seriously, though, I think a lot of tilesets out there are hybrids of different games. It shouldn't be that big of a problem; just do what you can do.

Neither, because I say it's really really good. I love how the colours feel cooperative and neither one sticks out against the other. icon_smile.gif

Okay, I've decided on a 178 Color MC Palette, and decided not to swap out palettes.

EDIT: It's looking pretty good, but it does go to dark rather abruptly.
I'll just put the finishing touches on this palette, and I'm good to go.

Okay I cleaned up my palette:

http://img526.images...inalpalette.png

All the obvious gradients are horizontal, but in the lower image I show
how (with creative use) you can get even more colors into your gradients.

With my new palette a slight color shift is necessary, but color loss can be easily avoided.

And here's the palette if you want it: http://www.mediafire...6an9j61t5ujs9io

EDIT:
Of course the real question is how does the palette look in practice?
I quickly reduced the MC overworld to my palette, and while the program
I use is NOT good at choosing colors for smooth results, it DOES give
you an idea of how versatile my palette is. Of course when I recolor
the MC graphics myself I will use much more appropriate colors:

Can't wait to see what fans can make with minish cap tiles because nintendo's map surely does suck, even the tiles are nice.
Good job on the palette it nearly looks like on the gba!!!

Time for an update. As you might have guessed, I'm doing the graphics for Link, Link's Actions,
Link's Items, Active Subscreen, Passive Subscreen, and Message Strings before anything else.

This image has been moved to the original post in this thread

Note that the Hammer is a light FSA edit, and the Spell Crystals are a heavy MC edit.
But the Feather, Bait, Lens of Truth and Hookshot are my own original graphics.
Fire Rod is FSA. Bombs and Rings are MC edits.
