I have pondering on doing a (possibly collabrative) furry quest, after I do Zelda's Last Wish. The thing about this is the theme and context of what I want to offer is an issue. I can't think of any of this type of quest other Rexlaninetales' PoV (Point of View(?)) which I believe was cancled years ago and my miniquest, Gale of Darkness (if that could be considered one).

Heres the Idea I have in mind:

--------------------

I have a Zelda-themed quest, where you can choose from eight diffrent characters: Two all-rounded characters (Have no idea on who), two fighters (most likely to be Lucifren and Lufina, from my RPs on this site), two rangers (have no idea on who yet) and two mages (most likely to be Hal, from my RPs on this site, and possibly princess Ruto). That is; there is are two characters, one of each gender, for each of the four diffrent playstyles. Obviously inspired by Terraria.

It should also use a diffrent health/defense system to that Z1 and consenquently almost every ZC quest out there. Like SS, you start out with more hearts (6 for all-rounders, 8 for Fighters, 5 for Rangers and 4 for Mages) and almost every enemy hurts you for a heart each. Damage-reducing tunics only reduce damage by only a set amount of hearts (or act like normal rings if the result is half or less of that amount), like what they did in LttP.

It should take place mostly in the Eldin region of Hyrule and poking into Faron and Lanyaru(?) regions during the period between SS and OoT, more towards SS. The main places of interest should be Death Mountain, Eldin Volcano, Hyrule Village and a new location called Eldin Port, to the far east in Hyrule.

The main places of interest:
  • Eldin Port: The hub for treasure hunters all round the world and incidentially the Mogmas. The game shoud start here.
  • Eldin Volcano: The residence of the dragon, Eldin. He is said to grant wishes to those who bring him legendary tresures. It is also where the Fire Sanctuary is located.
  • Death Mountain (Eldin): A volcano where strange ominous things happen. Hardly anyone ventures here because of these activities.
  • Hyrule Village (Faron): Where Skyloft descended into Hyrule. A small village, not much larger than what Skyloft was (and, no, Zelda won't feature big in the story).
The story mainly involves you, a diffrent one of the playable characters and Eldin. There should be an antagonist, but will be a diffrent one depending on how you play the game. It should be able to be beaten fairly quickly, in say 4-5 hours for a beginner in the standard path through.

--------------------

That's my idea as of so far. In-deph and possibly difficult to follow. What I aim with this plan is to give a great degree of freedom and non-linearity to follow the game in whatever way but yet not to leave you without any direction to follow.

Is there any critiques/suggestions you have in mind?

I like some of the ideas you've got here.

I'd be willing to collsborate, if for no other reason than just to see something different.

This. I understand that the main characters are furries (or at last Hal is), but I would hardly say that makes the game a furry quest. Especially when it takes place in a world with fish people and bird people and you get the point.

ANYWAY, I like the ideas behind it. I think having Eldin Volcano and Death Mountain both might be a bit volcano overkill (the fact that they're more or less the same mountain aside). It doesn't really matter that it's short, because it sounds like it will have plenty of replayability that leads to different play styles and different outcomes. So yeah, consider me interested by this.

There isn't much you can do to make a quest a "furry quest" besides having furry characters...unless you want to be stereotypical and make the main objective YIFF ALL THE THINGS!

Did you seriously just go there? A stereotype persists when you reintroduce the stereotype as if it were commonplace. It's not. If you're worried that it will erupt into "yiff" then don't even introduce the thought into peoples' heads. Otherwise, it won't, exactly as intended in the first place, obviously.

I so rarely go into moderator mode and I really don't want to even get us started in this but please, for the love of god... ... There is never a need for a lack in civility here or anywhere on these community premises.

----------------

Otherwise, I mean I personally don't even see why anyone needs to introduce anything furry into a ZC quest unless it grants the players and/or NPCs specifically non-human yet civilized abilities that become canon. Otherwise it's barely even worth mentioning. That's my opinion on the matter. It may even get to the point where I would forget that anyone ever intended there to be anything "furry" about it. Many such quests or games or whatever are designed to feature some aspect of furredom or what-have-you, but are quickly lost in the face of the game's mechanical and plot aspects, which are dominant roles in a game anyway.

I kind of agree with ShadowTiger on this. Making the whole thing a "furry quest" seems rather pointless unless each race has different natural skills. For example, let's say you have a Rito character from Wind Waker. Since they're part bird or whatever, they'd start with something like a Roc's Feather to represent some sort of natural jumping ability (because actual flight would break the game too easily). While all the other characters need to find an item to just be able to jump, the Rito character gets a "Roc's Cape"-type upgrade and can jump even higher. Each character has a unique ability that allows them access to places that none of the others are able to reach.

Another advantage to this would be the Overworld design. Let's say that each character can have a maximum of 20 hearts, after having found all the heart containers in the game. With each character able to access different parts of the overworld, you'd be able to hide many more heart containers everywhere, even having ones that only one type of character can reach in sight of all the characters.

For instance, let's say a player using a Rito character makes a leap onto an island that none of the other characters can reach. After a bit of exploring, the player finds a ledge they can't get to with a heart container there. They search and search but can't find a way to get to it. Later on, the player decides to replay the game as a Zora. Since their natural ability is swimming, they can swim at the start while everyone else has to get flippers. Upon a Zora obtaining the flippers, they become the only race able to swim past whirlpools, thus allowing them to obtain the heart container the player was unable to reach as a Rito.

If you're planning on taking advantage of each type of character in a way like this, then I'm all for it. This would easily become a quest I would be unable to stand having to wait for. If you're able to script well enough to handle something like this, that's fantastic. If not, this sounds like the kind of idea that you're bound to find somebody willing to script for you.

Yeah, I was afraid that I put too little thought in furridom in the title/idea. I was thinking of something that happens soon after SS.

It would be more like Sly Cooper, Judging from what you said.

Hmm... good point. I was thinking on more a fixed-class system, but your suggestion might provide more leverage. Looking into.

Edit: I was brainstorming for one of the characters to be a Mogma, applying what you said. Mogmas have the natural ability to burrow quickly, right. But he/she can't burrow everywhere or it would break the game. So I have a Mogma who can access some places that the others can't reach by burrowing (The other characters can dig, but not burrow quite like the Mogma).

That would be a tenative title. The title I'm more looking for is something like "The Legend of Eldin" or whatnot. (Random fact: My Megaman half-joke quest I was doing months ago had "NyanNayn!" as the working title).
